I think this is the question the BOC should have to answer to all football coaches and athletic directors around the state?

 

Why do they think that the Super 32 plan is the best possible plan for high school football in TN? The problem is they refuse to take questions, do they not work for ask the schools in the state?

 

This plan is detrimental to just about everyone involved. It has logistical problem after logistical problem.

 

Why was the five class system fine away with when the majority wanted it? Why does the TSSAA refuse the public-private split when the vast majority of schools want it?

 

It seems the BOC and the TSSAA has become a dictatorship that does not listen to its constituents.

 

Even if they keep the Super 32 plan why not alternate the regions each year in the first round 5 vs 6 in year 1, 5 vs 7 in year two and 5 vs 8 in year three. Will it increase travel in the playoffs? Yes but I think it is beneficial and adds parity to the game.

 

I am just sick of the TSSAA not doing what is best for the overall majority. Where do I sign up to run against Benard?

There doing it because they have a contract with Cookeville to have 8 championship games. plus the $$$$

Why do you think it is detrimental?  What logistical problems do you think it has?  How is this not better than what we have been doing for the last 2 years?  Why do you think that so many people are opposed to this plan?  I am pretty sure they are listening to their constituents, just not the ones you want them too....

  Thet tabled the public , private split until December, they just didn't specify what year. Its got to be studied.

1. Gate Revenue- Almost every team in the state will see a decrease in their gate revenue due to increase distances between schools. Football is the main revenue source for most athletic budgets in the state.

 

2. Travel- a team like Centennial will travel two plus hours passing other schools that could be in their district. 7 o'clock kick-off time means Centennial would need to leave at 3 and that is not including a pregame meal stop. It is difficult to get buses at that time of day. That is just one traveling example.

 

3. Equity- in memphis there are two five team districts which will allow a 1-9 team to make the playoffs. Also in each one of these districts one team is banned from postseason okay the next two years thua an 0-10 could make the playoffs.

 

Then you are trying to sell me on they are listening to their constituents. 198 schools want the public private split, only 55 are against. Then you have the vote by schools for the five and six class system vote which was closer by the five class vote won 149 to 105.

 

Teams are still having trouble scheduling games as Blackman still has two open dates. But I thought this plan Would fix that?

 

I could continue to list the problems if you would like but sounds like someone is one of the TSSAA cronies.

My solution is this: Eliminate the Board of Control and the Legislative Council. With the technology we have today, each member school gets to vote online on all business matters. Only the principal or AD's have access to this. A school or TSSAA can make a proposal during certain periods of the year (Ex: every August 1, November 1, February 1, and May 1) and the schools vote. The majority wins (Ex: if the there are 300 members, a 151-149 vote wins). The TSSAA can gather enrollment figures every four years, draw up classes, districts, and regions. The schools vote for approval. Class A votes on class A matters, class AA on class AA stuff, and class AAA on class AAA stuff. Only football playing schools vote on football matters. Same for the other sports also. Public/Private split can be voted on by entire membership. All ejections, violations, etc. would be enforced by the TSSAA itself with Bernard Childress and the assistant executive directors serving as the tribunal. That's my two cents worth. Anybody else like to tweak my proposal, say I'm nuts, or what not. LOL!

My point is that it easy to find things to complain about no matter what system you choose.  I am far from a TSSAA cronie....  Travel will always be an issue no matter what happens.  Sometimes a school like Centennial may have privately given their OK to tssaa that they don't mind travelling.  As for the public-private split, it may seem very cut and dry to some people, but the tssaa execs probably realize that there could be many unforeseen consequences down the road.  Maybe it is something that they are trying to work out and can't release anything publicly about it.  To just assume that they aren't listening is probably a far stretch from reality.  You may not like how they are handling, but I am sure they have their reasons.  Anyone who runs an organization knows that there is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes than what everyone knows....
