Well I guess I am the only one that was excited to see a Chatt area team bring home the state championship..!! I was a little slow making this post. I had to absorb our defeat and then look to see who all the winners were. GREAT JOB GPS..!! Young team, bright future, great leadership Sr's and obviously the coach had to do something right..

What's your opinion as to how such a young bunch pulled that off?

Congrats to all chatt teams. Next year will be another strong year I expect. ND loses some strong seniors from the back and CCS loses some senior top players while GPS loses a few also but the future looks bright. McMinn Reloads (not rebuilds) next year with a lot of young talent already in place just temporarily overshadowed by the big sr class. Also have a lot of strong incoming freshman.! Good luck to everyone in the competitive season I will be back on the sideline next year when my AA daughter moves up.

Two great coaches! I miss Andy at Signal because we had to go to faculty coaches in our 5th year as a public school, but congrats to GPS! We were able to land a good coach too, District is strong! Both CCS and ND made final 8 teams in state. Tough district!

Just curious about Andy...public schools can have community coaches. Why did Signal decide not to continue? For the record, Andy is a friend of mine and he is very happy at GPS. I am seriously just curious.

McMinn County school board has a policy in place that requires the coach to be from the mcMinn County school system. I don't know how many school districts have this rule.

Same rule for Hamilton for major sports.  Just puts us another step behind the privates (and makes coaching hires harder…especially in soccer).   With Coaches Northcutt and Goza we hit the public school lottery.  Program will grow, but we lost a little continuity.

    • QUICK UPDATE -  First, I see a lot of wrestling names that I recognize on that GoFundMe.  THANK YOU so much for helping this family.   After the long surgery on Sunday morning to repair his neck, Jacob suffered a collapsed lung.  Sometimes this happens after long surgeries.  They had to put him on a ventilator to get his breathing back on track.  He came off the vent on Monday morning and they put a BIPAP on him to help control his breathing.  As of today, Thursday, the BIPAP came off and he is breathing well on his own.  He is working towards drinking a glass of water and hopefully eating some solid food at some point in the near future. Jacob can "feel" when someone touches his legs, but there is still no movement.  His parents are beginning to prepare for him to be moved to the Shepherd Center in the next few days.  He will be there in Atlanta for 30-45 days.  Im sure he will receive excellent treatment. Please continue to pray for healing for him and if you are so moved, please contribute to the gofundme link above to help in any way you can.  The go fund me is doing well, but this is going to be a very long road for these guys Im afraid.. Thanks again! Sells
