clubonly. Most of us know why KVA was created. The director of KVA knows why he did what he did. The true reason of course he would never tell you or any of the others, but he knows why he did it. I also think that he/she can do what ever they want. I'm not saying their reason for starting KVA was wrong. I and others on here just exposing why KVA was started. It's kinda like in politics. They tell you what you want to here but in the back of their minds they have their own agenda that only a very few know about. Not saying that's wrong or right just exposing it. You chose

I never said he didn't start KVA because of his daughter.  I actually said that was "part" of it.  But there were plenty of us that were fed up with the direction K2 was going and wanted something different.  Some were even thinking of going to PR.  It sucked having really only one choice in Knoxville.  Im not saying KVA was the answer because it has problems as well.  But we knew how K2 was being run, and did not like it.

I have been here, in the mix much longer than some of you, so I know a little about what I am talking about.  I know Dave very well, and have even back before he moved to Knoxville.  He thinks the young ladies shouldn't be cussed at and belittled, and neither do I.  Not everyone would play at a top D1 school even if it was handed to them because of the treatment.

Some of the personal attacks on this board are disgusting.  I have ranted in the past as well, but I leave out who I am talking about as to not smear their name.  I think it is pitiful.

It's always great to have choices. I don't like the whopper that's why I go to Mcdonalds!! I'm not sure if there are a lot of us on here that have mentioned names. I know I TRY not to but I'm sure I probably have in the past. I do agree with you that all names should be left off. That's not going to happen though. If you ask most on here, they would tell you that it's not personal attacks. Most of them come out and say "these are facts". You bring up great points though!!

I'm so glad there is a second choice for girls to play volleyball. It's nice for those that just want to have a fun experience to have a choice like KVA.

I know that cussing isn't the best but if you think your girl isn't going to get cussed at if she plays volleyball at the next level then..............

Good posts. Clubs can be well run or poorly run. The two knoxville clubs are not funded well enough to do much more than what they are doing. The "cussing" thing seems to be more of a southern thing. Personally, it shouldn't happen. My college coach never cussed. Screamed, yes, cussed no. The problem is the local coaches, for the most part, have little actual coaching experience. They may know about volleyball, but don't have the training to actually coach. Also, the purpose of club should be to improve your overall play.

With that being said, I agree with the idea of the elite player not playing high school. But that is the ELITE player. Certainly the Nebraska commit made the right choice. There are a couple of more including a local sophomore that would benefit from not playing high school, but everyone else should play in high school.

As to CBFO, it seems to be a moneymaker which is about all it is. I don't know if it really does anything to help the girls. If they are having fun that's great, but don't elect much. The program at the Emerald Center seems way better.

I don't mind the opinions on here and I think they are great even when I don't agree.  What I can't stand is when people post blatant lies as facts.  Clubonly, you said that K2 was trying to be like Sports Performance.  I don't see the resemblance at all except that there is 1 coach that works there that also worked for sports performance for 3 years.  Also, you said that parent's weren't allowed to speak or even bring water to their children.  THAT IS A BLATANT LIE!  I have NEVER heard of any parent being denied access to their child and yes, including on Tom's team.  I have NEVER heard of any parent unable to communicate with their child.  The players are expected to pack their own drinks and snacks and to stay together during tournaments. I have been to several tournaments to watch the 15's and 17's (last year).  I have had conversations with the parents at K2 (who didn't like the new way things were being done) why they stayed.  None of them said that they were ever denied access to their children.  They said that they didn't agree with many of the things like the kids not  hanging out with their parents or not being able to stay with their kids all night.  These are 15 and up girls. It's called College Style Travel which is important for girls that are getting ready to go to college to get used to.  My oldest daughter is being recruited pretty heavily and every single college coach we talk to loves the College style travel.  It say a lot when you have kids running off the court crying, sitting on parents laps, parents standing at the edge of the court with snack and drinks because their children are not able to feed themselves apparantly. One particular coach says that he actually likes to eliminate those players.  It makes his job much easier when you have kids coming to college that are familiar with the way things are done. At K2 as a parent you are expected to act like the parent of college students.  Some may not agree.  That's what KVA is for.  Also, on the money issue, from what I understand, KVA isn't in a much better position and their facilities are pretty bad too.  I know this from my own experience.  It's freezing in there, big pillars that are totally unsafe, no room to overplay a ball at all, and it smells like gasoline.  I think it is safe to say that we all have our favorites and what we want for our children. K2 just installed heating and air too. I really don't care if people don't like K2 and I appreciate the fact that there's another club to go to.  That doesn't mean that you should blatantly lie about what's going on there to make KVA look better.  I hope the people reading this have a little common sense.  How can a club that you are paying for deny you access to your child?  How can you not speak to your kid at a tournament?  I mean really...smh

RonMexico, i'm not super sure about Nashville, but from what i've heard Ethos is a pretty good up and coming team.  They have some really good coaches there.  Alliance, I do believe is much more established.  I don't think either clubs play on a very high level though.

Ethos and Club West were about equal last year. Mid TN (old RC Juniors) had a few good ones teams. But none of those three clubs did as well overall as Alliance last year. And Alliance did play at a high level. For various reasons there's been a consolidation of talent this year. So it will be interesting to see how that affects this season as far as the Nashville clubs are concerned.
