Bouldin charged in the third, had to be helped off the court,never came back in. Finished with 24 pts. Looks like a Miss Basketball to me.

Pickett County played great tonight. They could have scored as many as they wanted. If they shoot and play pressure defense like that against Middleton, they could come out with the victory. Coach Smith has them playing pretty good. Bouldin had 24 pts in roughly 2 1/2 quarters and was only playing at half strength. Bad timing on her illness.

Pickett Co. had too many of their own Miss Basketball players on the court to VB's one. I am sorry their's was sick but she would have had to score 50+ to make a difference in this game. Pickett was up by 88-56 with 5 minutes to go and started running the clock. They easily could have scored another 10-15 points had they kept shooting, but Coach Smith was not going to allow a score of 100+.  PC hit 17 of 20 free throws. Shot 12 of 21 on threes. Middleton's 33-0 would be more like 23-10 if they played in 7A or played PC's schedule. Last 4 PC games: won 75-44, won 75-46, lost to #2 Clarkrange 57-56, won 95-65...they can beat Middleton!

Was at this game, somehow knew it was would be a wasted trip.  I was looking forward to seeing the Miss Basketball finalist play, she is a player but it is too bad for her she is all they have.  They play in a weak weak weak district and the region isn't much better.  I will say she is a good player, but one player can only carry a team so far.  Sorry she wasn't up to par but even if she was it wouldn't have mattered.

 

Very impressive night for Pickett, their coach definitely had his girls ready to play.  You could tell from the beginning which team deserved to be in that sub state game and headed to state.  Their defense was spot on and that confidence flowed into their offense.  If VB was in their district they would have finished third or fourth at best.  That says it all!

 

Best of luck to PC if they put it all on the floor they will have a shot at winning state!!  Can't wait to see how it finishes for them.

You are correct, Van Buren and Clay Co were pretty even this year. 7A's fourth place team.
