Jim Gaylor out at Maryville

Recommended Posts

Evidently he was told before the season even started that it didn't matter if Maryville went 0-30 or 30-0, that he wouldn't be back next year. I have no clue whose decision this was (I highly doubt GQ had anything to do with it).

Thoughts?

As in just baseball or wouldnt be back at Maryville period? If so, thats a huge blow for GQ

I think just baseball, but it'll definitely be awkward on the football sidelines next year. I have no clue what the issue was either, given that he was told this before the season started.

Is this the same Jim Gaylor that played at Overton High School in the 1970's?  Kicker?

Yes. He has been the head baseball coach and DC at Maryville for a long time, now.

What is wrong with this? Maryville has never been good at baseball. Why should he continue to run the ship if the ship ain't sailing?

They won a state title in 1989 in baseball. Therefore, they have been good at baseball in the past. Maryville always has a solid team in baseball, it's just unfortunate that they have been in the same district with the most dominant program in baseball for awhile now (Farragut)

Didn't say anything was wrong with it. Just kinda odd that he was told BEFORE the season started, and Maryville had a respectable season.

I think we all knew this before the season started.

Well now - about time they expected more than mediocrity in a program that has been floating along the last 10-15 years or so. Hopefully they will actually go hire a full time coach this time instead of a couple of part timers and volunteers.
