secondtoone
They have and they will this season. good! thats the league they need to be playing in. how did that work out for them?
cbg
Agreed. If not, then put them in the 6A division in football, and AAA in all other sports.Don't place CPA in D1 6A, put them in D2 AAA where they play Ensworth, Brentwood Academy, Montgomery Bell Academy, etc...every week. They would be able to compete but they would take some lumps also. No more blowouts where the backups are playing in the 2nd quarter of a football game or they throw the #5 guy and win in baseball. Bighurt
i think its unanimous! pick on somebody your own size CPA!Do you know what CPA's enrollment is? I will bet you cannot guess within 100 students.
bluedevilpride2012
In 2015 the CPA football team is playing Peachtree HS in Georgia, Ensworth, Knoxville Catholic, and Goodpasture. They are also playing Pearl-Cohn and East Nashville. I wouldn't call them out for "ducking" anyone. By the time the 3A State Playoffs begin they'll be very "battle tested" and playing solid 3A schools like Camden, Fairview, Milan, and Dyersburg may honestly seem like 'inferior' competition. Outside of Alcoa and possibly CAK the teams in 3A don't have a prayer of competing against CPA. Edited June 5, 2015 by LBD
MTSN
There is no D2 AAA. All the teams you mentioned are in D2 AA. From what I've heard, if the public/private split occurs, they may have to create DII-AAA. Edited June 7, 2015 by MTSN
bluedevilpride2012
From what I've heard, if the public/private split occurs, they may have to create DII-AAA. That would indeed be the case. CPA, Goodpasture, CAK, Knoxville Catholic, and Lipscomb would all probably fall in the D-II Class AA classification with BGA. They still wouldn't be classified with Ensworth, Brentwood Academy, MBA, Father Ryan, McCallie, etc.

They still wouldn't be classified with Ensworth, Brentwood Academy, MBA, Father Ryan, McCallie, etc. Lipscomb Academy according to their website is the largest private school in Middle Tennessee. Not sure of the total enrollment in grades 9 through 12 but much larger than Ensworth, BGA, MBA, etc. By the way Ensworth has approximately 400 students in grades 9 through 12. Not sure your analysis is correct. Lipscomb Academy would be in the large private school division with BA, MBA, FRHS, McCallie. Ensworth falls in the lower division but plays up in the larger division. Not sure there would be more than two divisions if the split occurs. Tornadoes78
That with CPA winning state in baseball and soccer today the only major men's sports team that didn't win a state championship is basketball. It's almost like bringing in players from out of state messes w the chemistry. I'm glad that Ingle Martin has stayed true to the players he has and he's done a amazing job w this team and I think the whole CPA community is more proud about the football program than the basketball program because the football program keep its integrity This post is really off base. Not sure how you say Ingle Martin has stayed true to the players he has. The school is very close to the Davidson/Williamson County line and in the public school arena would lose athletes based on this. Would not have players from Williamson, Davidson and possibly other counties. That is the very reason private schools should not play in the public division - they have the ability to draw students outside of their zone or county. Indian
Lipscomb is at 509. MBA is 510 but doubled due to all males. Ensworth and BA would certainly move up. I think 2 classes would be plenty.
