TSSAA Proposal Changes?

TCA will be effected in a big way.  Number one they will no longer be able to give financial aid to athletes who play JV and JR high.  They also will not be able to give discounts on tuition to families that have multiple children involved in sports.  This will all change if they go DII and they will be able to do as schools in DII do.  All this information is found on their literature and webpage.

Simply put, you are wrong.  Perhaps you need to read various articles on what was actually voted on.  The changes voted on have to do with work study for student athletes and parents of athletes who are non-classified employees.  The one proposal that could have effected TCA did not pass.

Besides, I think  that the of TCA knows and understands what was voted on a tad bit better than you do sir.  I'll take their word on it plus what I have seen in news media articles from several sources.

I really don't think you understand what has taken place here.  You now must decide if you are going to stop giving any type of aid to athletes or you go D2.  I will agree that athletes who parents work for TCA will not be affected. However, the key to understanding what took place is knowing what falls under a Financial Assistance Program. It includes the money that has been available at TCA for athletes who are not involved in varsity sports. Students can no longer do work study and  tuition discounts or financial aid if you play below varsity. Read your own website and you will see that TCA has been giving aid.  It all stops now or you go D2.  I'm sure Mr. Northcutt will soon realize like you that a decision will have to be made about changing the financial aid policy at his school or he can enjoy going to D2.

I think we privates should all go D2

I think that open enrollment schools should get the multiplier

The reality here is nothing has or will change. Schools who want to cheat already do. This just created another layer of deceit. The TSSAA doesn't have the ability to investigate the current rules. So adding more rules they can't investigate is simply to placate those public schools that keep calling up and saying waaaaaaaaaaaa

Just my 2 cents.

orange; at the end of the day, it is we who will benefit the most......the gates have practically just been opened....more coaches per sport and more athletes at your finger tips.....who nose Orange; the Irish's chances for their 1st belt may have just got better that Alcoee will be out of the picture......the question will be ask by the PUBs in the near future by those who belly ached about the unfairness of the system they were in........" where have our kids and coaches gone"......can you say backfire....it will still be the same 3 or 4 teams year after year in classifications bulldozen all the same middle of the road to bottom feaders through the season and in the first couple of rounds of the playoffs and then vying for the belts themselves...there just want be a private raiding them of their belt; it will be those same 3 or 4 PUBs year after year...and who/what will the PUBS blame it on then

This is exactly right.  In the areas that don't have private school nearby, the top public programs will draw the cream of the crop and dominate. That already happens. Even these top Public programs will be dominated by the Privates state wide.

In areas where there are private programs they will take the best players from all public schools.  It aint rocket science, right now only a few (relatively speaking) programs openly offer athletic money.  So the market (demand) is small and publics keep most of their best players.  If all the privates are free to offer athletic money (publics will not legally be able to offer the same)  the market will grow and more top athletes will go to private schools which will make the overall private division better which will in turn draw more athletes.  It will be a vicious cycle ending with most of the top athletes and programs being in the private sector.  It has happened elsewhere.

Ask yourself why is the NFL more popular than the CFL? The top players are in the NFL.  No one outside of Canada could care about the CFL, and even most of them care more about the NFL.  Same will be true of the public schools if the privates are separated out, only friends and family will care, all eyes will be on the big game.  Throw the privates out and they won’t have to steal anything you’ll be giving them the keys to the car.

The big boys are already split, the other privates are in the small classes ,Why in the world would we care who they recruited. If you didn't notice several private schools jumped to d2 when they did the multiplier, if anything they've just got weaker. Most of these privates just want the smart ,working class kids, they don't want to run a football factory.

dats right baby....Booger is a past PUB guy who decided to spend some of his vast fortune once his kids started HS and save them from the hamilton county PUB school system and its group of non-managing worthless liberal bearcats.....after our research and tours of Private, as to where part of Mr. and Mrs Boogers riches would be spent given; ND ended up at the top of the pile....as a non-Catholic, the price tag was going to be a bit higher.....no problem; had the difference in a coffee can....it was the incredible education first that got us; 2nd was the fact that there would be prayer everyday in the hallways and loud speakers for them, the incredible family lovin envirenment, and 3rd was the fact that they would serve Booger natural light and cheese at parent orientation and the Friday night tailgating events were over the top.....oh, and 4th was the sports....no one came callin Booger so they could borrow his kids for 4 years; common sense called Booger......Boogerette is now playing college ball and JR is warming the bench and may til he graduates; but he has the good fortune to still have Fant coaching him and that is priceless.....heck; Fant could possibly get Jr Booger some form of athletic scholarship and never start a down in HS

other words, kinda hated to see the PUBS do this to themselves cause nothing changes for the hackers and bottom feeders; they still get dominated;....but ant no sleep going be lost on it in Booger mansion.....survival of the fittest is the only way and the PUBS just tapped out

Pub haven't done anything to themselves. There has been nothing stopping these small privates from jumping to d2. They actually cling to the last straw to stay with the small publics. They just want to have competitive teams without all the riffraff. You make it sound like the small public schools are forcing all you cats to recruit. WE DON'T REALLY CARE

The small number of DII schools now does limit the market but if you expanded that to all privates it would have a dramatic effect, particularly in and around the urban centers.  The privates would rule all but the rural areas and therefore the state as a whole. It wouldn't happen over night but it would happen.
