BigG
intresting, Booger just sayin Coaches had to nominate their players. If coach didn't nominate, players couldn't be chosen.

BigG
that trophy was obviously plenty satisfying for those Green Devils, then Booger just sayin The timing was really hard. The nominations were due on Sunday. I know a lot of coaches had their hands full last week, and it was difficult to get the information in. MoonDogRex
Wonder if the TACA folks would ever be interested in working with the THSSCA folks to do some all-star games after graduation in the summer. Could do both a girls' game and a boys' game in the same venue, back-to-back. Heck, TACA could organize an all-star week of football, basketball, and baseball games too to celebrate recently graduated senior athletes from all across the state. Make it a big festival to attend. Bring in live music, have coaching sessions, etc. Probably would have to be in Nashville or somewhere central. One downside -- college coaches might not be happy. One upside -- high schools wouldn't have to worry about injuries impacting any athletes who might be about to proceed into a new sports season. I know that Daniel Gordon at USN has done an TN vs KY All star game in June but with players that hadn't committed to any colleges. It was pretty cool for those players that could play college ball and didn't chose to or hadn't been seen yet. He invited a few college coaches out to check them out as well. I think it's a great idea and for the graduates that love the game, it gives them something fun to look forward to.
DIIA
Had the pleasure of watching two of my senior girls play in the THSSCA All Star game today. The west won 3-0 in a fun match. Had several moments of intensity but with less than half a dozen fouls between the two teams it felt somewhere between a regular season match and a pickup game, exactly what it should have been. The only disappointing part was that while each team had 20 players listed on their rosters, of those 40, 10 did not turn up. The east squad only had 13, one of which was a goalkeeper, so only one extra field player. When one of their girls went down with an injury two of the west players went over to the east team to give them a few more. I'm sure there were probably legit reasons for a few of those 10 no shows, but with so many great players across the state who did not get to play today, it just seems poor to take one of those special 40 roster spots and then not show up for the match. Other than that, it was great and thanks to everyone at the THSSCA who helps put it on each year. powersdeg
I am not sure who is in charge of letting the coaches know about the game as far as who is playing in it and when it is, but Hardin Valley was not made aware of it until this past week (a week after the game was played)! My daughter is one of the 3 players chosen from HVA, and she would have loved to have played! She does see it as an honor to be chosen and is actually very disappointed that she missed it.
