3a region 4 2016

Recommended Posts

Ole "soured grapes" here, so YAI now sits 0-4 and last place in the standings, but we're told its because of the schedule. thought this staff were genius'. they are now 2-12 under samber and with all due respect to Cannon and Grundy, we haven't beat anyone of consequence. in fact it not for the first two plays of the second half at Grundy I think we lose that one last year also. so now we hope we can beat Cannon and Grundy this year, then hopefully sneak up on Upperman or Smith to make the playoffs and all will be well correct.

My goodness man if you can't root for the kids and the coaches we have go root for another team. These kids are playing hard and I'm sure they are coaching hard. If you can't root for them go somewhere else. People like you are what ruins a community and the sports around it. Am I happy they are 0-4 no. Will I be there yelling and supporting them come Friday you better believe it. If they loose will I be back next Friday without a doubt get a life

My goodness man get a brain, you want to make this personal, the term is sour grapes. I will call you Rosie, for the Rosie scenario you see. Sorry if you are one of the coaches or kinfolk of one. The current group of jrs. and srs. are the tail end of some great Crush teams and my expectation is that we should be competing for championships. This has been squandered by samber, wright and the administration. I have supported these kids for years, at both High schools, and many sports, buying the things they sell (popcorn, laundry soap etc.), donating too their lifting and buying things at the auctions, and rooting from the stands for many sports. You want to debate the state of athletics at YAI? you can bury your head in the sand, but it is the kids I am standing up for they deserve better. I will post the facts as I see them. I will leave you with this one. Our head coach gets on the radio after losing a two score lead and the game and defends his decision to go for it 4th and short deep in your own end with little time left by saying I asked the kids what they wanted to do.

No relation to a coach wished I could coach. Have had kids play for Wright and Brown. And played at YAI myself back in the day. Do I agree with going for it then prob not. Do I agree with letting the kids say hey coach we got this and believing in them you DANG right I do. That's why at 0-4 these kids never gave up on Friday. I saw them playing as hard on the first play as they were the last. The state of athletics at YAI is due to administration bowing to parent and outside influences. Not in just one sport but all sports. I'm glad your supporting them with your money because getting on line and tearing down the coach and the program isn't supporting them.

Hmmmm: Seq. started 10 seniors and one jr. against Smith and Smith started either two or three seniors. Smith only has either 4 or 5 seniors on the team. I heard one sr., who didn't start, quit so I don't know for sure how many we have. At the half it was 6-0 Seq. and near the end of the game Seq. was up 19 to 14 with Smith trying an onside kick for the win. Seq. sure didn't score 35 points and pull their starters against Smith. Granted Seq. has a very good team in all aspects and should have won for they were the better team and the best team in the region. Each game Smith is playing better as the youth start to jell while learning to shave. If I were an opposing team, I would hope that I had already played Smith. I am not boasting when I say that, I am only reflecting Smith's young team starting to not play like Freshmen, even though we have freshmen starting and some are first subs for the starters. Who knows, we may lose the remaining games but IF we continue to improve we could rattle some chains.

listen at this propoganda!

If you wish to stop the personal attacks and discuss football that would be best, we can agree to disagree on football issues. I believe I am supporting the kids by calling the coaches out for their incompetence, you disagree that is fine, convince me what they are doing correct. I think having parents that are not faculty on the staff is a problem, so if that is part of what you are saying by parent influences we agree, though I don't think that is what you are saying, I could agree with you on the call if he did not go to the press box and throw the boys under the bus as an excuse. He should have Manned up and took responsibility for it either way.

Not meaning it as a personal attack by no means. Parents on the staff has happened for years. Have the ones that are coaching not coached in our program for years at some level. I will agree to disagree with you on all levels.

My prediction for this weeks games

Cannon@york 21-35 I believe that York will get their first region win this week but cannon ain't a pushover if York plays sloppy cannon could easily pull out the W

Dekalb@smith 17-21 I look for smith to make this a statement game as this will most likely decide who finishes 2nd in the region. Both teams have good playmakers and is really a toss up..

Sequatchie@bledsoe 35-14 this game is nothing but bragging rights being both teams absolutely hate each other which has made some amazing games here lately..I think Bledsoe keeps it close in the first half but Sequatchie pulls away with the W.

Upperman@grundy 27-28 uppermans lost some really tough games this year and their one win came from a bad Monterey team..that being said they are really tough to judge..if grundy comes out and plays like they did against Watertown in the first half then I believe Grundy could pull off the miracle upset on homecoming night..

What is everybodies opinion on this weeks games?

I just dont see Grundy winning. I think Upperman will win by 13.

    • Lee would have been a good choice, also.  I'm sure Benny was involved with the decision.
    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
