As always there are two sides to any story. Please allow those with ALL of the information to make the judgement. It seems that Board Members may have been out of line.

It's a terrible thing that happend to the victim.  Absolutely terrible and difficult to put into words how terrible the act was.  Those who committed the crime should face punishment to the furthest extent of the law.  With that said in the grand scheme of things, I feel like some comments here and elsewhere are pretty far off base.  For one, some are wondering why the coach wasn't supervising the players.  Are you folks incenuating that the coach should be with all his players 24/7 on this trip (which is impossible BTW)?  Have your kids ever played high school sports and traveled overnight?  By taking this stance, you are saying that all overnight trips for all high school sports teams should be done away with.  I think its ridiculous to fire the AD or coach. If a player would have showed up and shot 3 people would it be the AD's fault? The coaches fault??? If you are a boss and workers under you sexually assault another co-worker, should you be fired? I'd hope all of you casting stones and calling for heads to roll would love to hop in the unemployent line if something you did not do cost you AND your family their job/income. I assure you that 99.999 % of coaches want the ABSOLUTE best for their players, and I'm sure that the Ooltewah coach is the same way.  This is a terrible event.  But the accountability falls squarely on the shoulders of those who committed this haneous act and on those present at the time who stood idly by and didn't step up and do the right thing by stopping it.

I was hoping to be done with this topic as it turns my stomach but felt compelled to add 2 more cents.

 

 There is a systemic problem with this team and school and somebody should be accountable. All coaches and AD obvious choice and the list should grow from there. If the coach didn't think this crime warranted  pulling the team from the competition and begin uncovering the sordid details to aid law enforcement punish the guilty, then I suggest his judgment on everything is questionable. Ditto for AD and other school administrators . Major house cleaning in order and it should have already been well under way.

A similar act was attempted on a freshman at knox catholic this year. The principal and coach did nothing about it so the boy finally quit school. The ones who did it got a slap on the wrist.  Sad that kids think this stuff is okay and coaches just brush it under the rug.
