Only one that is a longshot is Greenback. There are six or seven teams that are probably better that will duke it out to represent the west. Peabody, Dresden, Union City, Huntingdon, Wayne Co., Nashville Christian, and Trousdale Co. are all tough enough to make it to Cookvegas if things go their way as far as injuries and lucky breaks go. Then there's the Pirates, who look to be back to form this year...tough row to hoe for Greenback, but they won't have to beat them all...just those who have beaten the rest.

I think that's why Greenback may win. Greenback plays bigger teams during the early season, scrimmages and jamborees. So they are prepared for deeper teams and yet will have time to recover and possibly an easier road than the school from the west in the playoffs. Greenback has a strong line and a very good RB. Even if they are playing a team with a little more talent, Greenback should be able to control the clock and rhythm of the game. Just my thoughts.

I'd like everyone to make their pick for 2016 State Champions in this thread. It'd be cool to come back next year at this time and see how we do. I'll start by going first:

Division II-A: St. George's

Division II-AA: Ensworth

1A: Dresden

2A: Trezevant

3A: Alcoa

4A: Knoxville Catholic

5A: Centennial

6A: Maryville

I agree with your picks i think both Maryville and Alcoa take home the Gold Trophy this season.
