pantheon
In committee meetings, it was decided to allocate 28 automatic bids for Tennessee, state champion and runner-up. Also, going forward, any state that has a qualified wrestler not competing who can no longer simply move up their next place finisher to fill the spot. That entry now becomes an at-large wildcard bid to be filled by the next best available wrestler (from any state) selected by the committee. So, for example, New England can no longer slide in a 7th place finisher at a weight class for their 6th place finisher who is not participating. That spot becomes an at-large bid. New England was receiving 6 automatic bids per weight class, but I believe that has now been reduced because of Tennessee's performance. Also, it looks like Louisiana may be getting into the National Preps soon. -TH
