In North Knight Invitational. With 26 teams from four different states, it was the largest Henderson tournament ever.

Along with the regular varsity tournament, a JV and girls tournament was held as well.

“Our goal is to bring a lot of different looks in and I think that’s what we did,” said North Henderson coach Heang Uy. “Your new kids get a chance to compete and your older kids get a chance to get better.”

Science Hill took home the team title in convincing fashion with 213.5 points. It was their fourth straight time winning the event. Byrnes (176), Avery (164.5), Pisgah (156)and Pigeon Forge (151.5) rounded out the top five.

PREVIEW: Dickson County Wrestling

  • CASEY PATRICK

DICKSON – The Cougars and Lady Cougars wrestling teams return some fire power from last season’s squad in state qualifiers Tay Payne, Michael Quillen, and Cole Campbell, along with other wrestlers who made strides last season.

Coach John Patterson is happy to have a few more athletes to fill up the weight classes so they won’t have to forfeit as many points as they did last season.

“You can tell by our roster that we are still a young team,” Patterson said. “However, we have larger numbers than we have had in recent years. It is looking like we will be able to fill all varsity weight classes and many JV classes and freshman classes. We also have a nice number of girls again this year.”

At the recent Viking Takedown Jam, the Cougars had seven wrestlers all go undefeated. That list included Sadey Hambrick, Jayden Sutton, Michael Quillen, Cole Campbell, Luke Owens, Gabe Rodriguez, and Dakotah Edwards.

The Cougars also added a new assistant coach to the staff.

“We would like to welcome Dr. Charles Williams to our coaching staff,” Patterson stated. “Dr. Williams has coached at Whites Creek High, Pearl-Cohn and Donelson Middle.”

“We are looking forward to a very competitive year, especially with the filling of our weight classes,” Patterson added. “Last year’s forfeits were the deciding factor in several of our matches. It will be great going into matches not giving away any points.”

Bradley Wrestlers Roll To Garner-Dyer Championship

McCallie Finishes Second At McCallie Invitational

Saturday, December 14, 2019 - by John Hunt

Coach Ben Smith admitted that his team didn’t have its best practice on Friday following a 49-15 loss to top-ranked Baylor, but his Bradley Bears bounced back like champions at the Garner-Dyer Invitational at Tullahoma on Saturday.

The Bears claimed five individual titles and five others who were runners-up and yet another who finished third as they claimed the first-place team trophy with 265 points.

Montgomery Bell Academy was a distant second with 175.5 while Oakland (156), Grissom (118.5) and Walker Valley (115.5) completed the top five teams.  East Hamilton was sixth with 113 while Red Bank and Sequatchie County finished 23rd and 24th, respectively.

“It wasn’t too bad,” Smith said by cell phone while driving the bus back to Cleveland Saturday evening.

“I’m pleased with what I saw today.  I wasn’t really sure what to expect as our practice on Friday wasn’t as good as I’d hoped, but we came in here this morning with our heads held high and wrestled more like the Bradley Bears of old.

“We gained some confidence as our effort was good.  We’re getting better on the mat and I really enjoyed watching my kids compete today.  It was a good day for the Bears,” Smith added.

Ethan Wilson claimed the first individual title for Bradley at 106 while teammates Luke Belcher (120), Taron Patterson (126), Gavin Hughes (132) and Seth Gregory (138) also followed with championship wins.

Easton Lipsey (113), Carson Palmer (145), Ben Stansberry (160), Tyrone McDonald (170) and Gavin Sewell (220) all finished second while Austin McClure was third at 285.

East Hamilton had a pair of champs with 113-pound winner TeNario Thomas also capturing MVP honors for the day.  Teammate Jason Brumlow was the winner at 195.  Walker Valley’s Jadon Langford was the winner at 285.

Heath Tanksley was third at 182 for Walker Valley while Michael Teasley was fourth for the Mustangs at 160.

While Bradley was winning in Tullahoma, the McCallie Blue Tornado came in second in their invitational.

Woodland was the winner with 307 points while McCallie was second with 225.  Northwest Whitfield scored 158.5 points for fifth while Dalton’s 96 points were good enough for 10th.

McCallie’s three champs included Jack Braman at 120, Emory Taylor at 126 and James Howard at 285.

Alex Whitworth (160), Gavin Cagle (170) and Chase Looper (182) were all second for the Blue Tornado while Ellis Haney (106) and Rand Holtzclaw (152) were both third.

Dalton’s Cole Hunt was the champion at 113 pounds.

Greenbrier wrestling starts season 13-2, aims for first state champion

Greenbrier High School keeps building on its recent wrestling success.

The Bobcats have made five straight state championship appearances dating back to 2015, though Greenbrier has never won an individual or team state championship.

That could change this year.

Greenbrier is already 13-2 through the first three weeks of the season and won the Battle of Robertson County on Friday, Dec. 13 at Springfield. The Bobcats have six returning individual state qualifiers that could make runs in their respective weight classes.

“We have a good chance to match or better what we did last year,” Greenbrier coach Cody Coomes said. “They all know if they don’t put the work in, then it’s not going to happen for them. Hopefully they can work hard to get to where they were or even higher.”

Cole McCartney placed fourth in the 120-pound weight class last year, and Riley Putman placed sixth in the 195-pound weight class. Both wrestlers are back to try to improve upon those finishes.

Other key returnees include Gavin Ledbetter, Dalton Watson, Gabriel Matherly, Elliot Counasse and Nick Payne. Each wrestler has qualified for at least one individual state tournament.

McCartney, who recently committed to Ouachita Baptist (Ark.), may represent Greenbrier’s best chance at an individual state title. He has competed in three individual state championships and placed as high as No. 3 as a sophomore in 2018.

“He’s got a really good chance,” Coomes said. “He has been close. He’s worked hard enough, and he wants it hard enough. I think he can do it.”

The team state championships have been tougher sledding for the Bobcats. Greenbrier is 4-10 overall in its five appearances. Pigeon Forge eliminated the Bobcats with a 47-25 win in the 2019 Class A-AA state quarterfinals.

State championships aside, the program’s success has bred more interest at the school. Greenbrier has 28 athletes on its roster this season.

“I think they see their buddies have success and say, ‘Hey, if he can do it, why can’t I do it?’” Coomes said. “It’s been good. We’ve had a lot of guys interested.”

But males are not the only ones interested in the sport.

The Bobcats also have their first female wrestler in freshman Makenzie Dean, who made program history by winning her first match 9-3 against Montgomery Central on Dec. 5.

“She joined the team this year and has been to every single practice,” Coomes said. “It’s probably a little more mentally tough for her because she’s the only girl and has to put up with a bunch of dudes who are not easy to be around sometimes.”

Another key to the interest level was the creation of the Greenbrier Middle wrestling program in 2011. Those wrestlers have gone on to become more seasoned athletes at Greenbrier High.

“They get them going in middle school,” Coomes said. “And by the time they get to high school, they already know wrestling and want to keep doing it.”

The Bobcats still have six weeks to prepare for the Region 7 duals at East Robertson on Jan. 28. The TSSAA State Duals are set for Feb. 7-8, and the individual state championships will be held Feb. 21-22.

Coomes said the Bobcats are hopeful their early-season success leads to even bigger accomplishments later this winter.

“Things are going well so far,” Coomes said. “We have a long way to go. We have a good core group of guys that will hopefully do big things this year.”

The Cookeville High School wrestling team picked up a region win Tuesday as the Cavaliers took down the Warren County Pioneers 49-27 at CHS.

I’m very proud of all these guys,” CHS head coach Scott Cook said. “They’re working very hard and getting more and more physical every day.

“Wrestling tough against a region opponent will help us prepare for the postseason. We’ve got to really sharpen up our offense on our feet, and we’ve still got a lot of work to do on the bottom. But our intensity is getting better, and our tempo is getting much better. It was a great night tonight.”

The Cavs won the match with five victories by pin fall, one by decision, one by major decision, and only two by forfeit.

CHS started the match with 10 straight points as Dakota Cucinella (160 pounds) pinned his opponent in one minute, 21 seconds, and Jay Reed won by a 17-4 major decision.

Warren County got on the board next with a pin over Chase Stewart (182) to make it 10-6.

The Cavs finished out the heavy end of their weight classes and started into the light weight classes strong, winning 3-of-4 matches for a 28-9 lead.

Tallas Newman (195) pinned his opponent with 14 seconds left in the second round, but Mason Allen (220) lost a 10-4 decision.

CHS then won another two matches in a row as Samuel Harness (heavyweight) pinned his opponent 43 seconds into the third round, and Trenton Houston (106) pinned his opponent with 19 seconds left in the second round.

Warren County put points on the board before and after surrendering two forfeits as Cookeville’s Blaine McAlpin (113) and Sebastian Hirbar (132) were pinned in the second round. The 12 points for either side put Cookeville’s lead at 40-21.

The Cavs rounded out the match with two wins and a loss for the match win.

Mickey Gonzalez (138) won a 5-0 decision for three points, Will Ramirez (145) was pinned in the first round, and Ethan McWilliams (152) pinned his opponent in the second round.

Up next, the Cavs will hit the road Thursday for a 6 p.m. match in Smyrna.

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga junior Matthew Waddell led a group of three Mocs who advanced to Day 2 of the Southern Scuffle, presented by Compound Sportswear.  Waddell posted three wins at 184 pounds today and will compete in the semifinals at Noon (E.S.T.) on Thursday, Jan. 2.

As a team, Chattanooga is in 14th place overall with 33.5 points.  Oklahoma State leads the field at 70, followed by North Dakota State (63), N.C. State (61.5), Rider (61) and Stanford (61) in the top five.

Waddell entered the tournament as the No.
4 seed and opened with a pin against Drexel's Owen Brooks.  He followed that with a 9-2 decision over Air Force's Jake Thompson in the Round of 16.  Waddell closed out the day with a 3-2 victory against Campbell's Chris Kober in the quarterfinals.

Sophomore Colton Landers was also impressive at 133 pounds.  Prior to the Scuffle, his only action of the year was going 1-2 at the Southeast Open on Nov. 3.  After dropping his first round match he posted four wins in the backdraw to stay alive.

Landers started his run with a 13-3 major decision over West Virginia's Lucas Seibert before a 16-2 major against Little Rock's Aiden Campbell.  He had the signature win of the session for UTC with a 7-5 decision over Cal State Bakersfield's No. 4 seed Chance Rich.  Rich is currently No. 18 in the Flo rankings at 133 pounds.  Landers capped the evening action with a 7-3 decision over Iowa State's Ramazan Attasaouv.

Sophomore Tanner Smith is also still alive at 149 pounds.  He entered the day as the No. 5 seed, but lost in the Round of 16 to N.C. State's A.J. Leitten (4-2).  He then defeated two opponents from Rider to advance to Thursday's action.

Doors open at 9:00 a.m. with competition beginning tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. in McKenzie Arena.  Tickets are on sale now on GoMocs.com or at the door.  There is also a $10 finals only ticket that is available at the Gate 1 Box Office after 5:00 p.m.  The semifinals are set for Noon, with the Medal Rounds at 7:00 p.m.  Follow all of the action on FloArena with every match broadcast by FloWrestling.

Paralyzed wrestler now walking, will return to Pleasant Hill high school

2020 is off to a great start for Ryan Joseph. KTVU first told the story of the East Bay high school student who became paralyzed during a wrestling match two years ago. Now, through rehabilitation, he's walking with crutches and is set to return to high school next week for the first time since his accident.

PLEASANT HILL, Calif. - 2020 is off to a great start for Ryan Joseph. KTVU first told the story of the East Bay high school student, who was paralyzed during a wrestling match two years ago.

The 18-year-old has been away in Colorado receiving treatment, but next week, he is set to return to College Park High School in Pleasant Hill for the first time since the accident.

Ryan and his family are sharing a remarkable update. He can walk again with the help of crutches at his home in Walnut Creek.

Ryan said he is looking forward to being with all his friends again at school and that he's grateful things have worked out well for him and his family.

"It's awesome to be home after so long," said Ryan.

In January 2018, Ryan became paralyzed from the neck down after an accident during a high-school wrestling match. He needed the help of a ventilator to breathe.

The long journey to recovery has been eased in part by his resilient spirit.

"Everything just came together. Stuff usually works out for me so..." said Ryan.

Until two weeks ago, he had been in Colorado where he received treatment at Craig Hospital, which specializes in spinal-cord injuries.

The family shared video taken in August when Ryan took his first solo steps.

"For him to be walking now is pretty incredible," said Kristin Joseph, Ryan's mother.

The family credits a great medical team and support from friends and strangers for helping them cope with challenges they faced.

"Everyone's had our back this entire time. That makes me cry and that's made a huge difference," said Kristin.

The family says they are grateful for the donations from the community to help renovate the home to accommodate Ryan: a work still in progress.

"Every day, it gets better. Then you look up and two years have passed. It's hard to imagine," said Tom Joseph, Ryan's father.

Ryan said the key is to take one step at a time, one day at a time.

He can now walk for up to an hour each day.

"I've been really happy with how my family and I have handled this.  But I think people can do a lot more than they think they can,” he said.

On Tuesday, Ryan plans to return to College Park High School for the first time to attend classes  since his accident.

He is scheduled to graduate on time in May.

FacingTennessee’s top-ranked James Howard of McCallie High School, Reynolds trailed 2-0 going into the third period after a first-period takedown. Starting on top in the third, Reynolds surrendered an escape six seconds in and couldn’t rebound, losing 3-0.

Howard is now 15-2, while Reynolds is 27-2.

“(Howard) was a fairly athletic, physical heavyweight. Lloyd just came up short,” Wagner said.

Harrold was a win away from becoming the third Tiger to advance to the final, but he ran into a buzzsaw by the name of Patrick Kennedy in the semifinals. The top-ranked wrestler at 182 pounds, Kennedy, from Kasson-Mantorville, pinned Harrold in 38 seconds to drop him to 23-5. Kennedy, who ultimately won the title, is an Iowa recruit.

Harrold bounced back to win 6-4 over Stoughton’s Brandt Spilde before being pinned in 2:04 by Simley’s Gavin Nelson in the third-place match. Harrold is now 24-6.

“I thought Caleb had a phenomenal tournament. He did what he had to do to get back in the fourth-place match. I’m proud of him,” Wagner said.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The first annual Rossview Girls Invitational was held Saturday, January 4 at Rossview High School. The tournament was comprised of 27 schools with 168 wrestlers competing from three states.

The championship bracket featured nationally-ranked wrestlers, state medalists, and first-year wrestlers from across Tennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia.

This was the first and only all girl’s tournament held this season and the largest girl’s tournament ever held in the state.

The tournament-team champion was two-time state champion Rossview with 311 points followed by Tullahoma with 220 points.

The most outstanding wrestler and best match awards went to Saqara Buchanan of Rossview for her performance in the first-place match at 140 pounds against Tristen Music of Hiram High School (GA), where she defeated the nationally-ranked wrestler in sudden victory.

The awards were determined by the coaches from each team and the voting was unanimous.

Another intriguing match of the day was first-year wrestler Taylor Howell of Clarksville High School going against nationally-ranked and first-in-state Robin Yunis for first place at 125 pounds. Yunis defeated Howell with a pin, but the two may likely meet again at the state championships later this year.

Rossview girls wrestling is led by head coach Jeff Price and assistant coaches Deanna Yohe and Brad Warren.

Bears defeat Hilltoppers in wrestling showdown

JOHNSON CITY PRESS • JAN 10, 2020 AT 11:06 PM

Bradley Central defeated Science Hill 40-30 Friday evening in an early season showdown of top state wrestling programs at the Moffat duals.

The Hilltoppers won five matches against the Bears at the new Science Hill Gymnasium. William Medina started off the evening with a pinfall victory at the 170-pound weight class. Three other Science Hill wrestlers — Braxton Mann at 138, Jahkye Aples at 145 and Joseph Frye at 152 — won their matches by pinfall as well. Jared Harter prevailed by forfeit at 160.

Science Hill came up just short in the three heavier weight classes. Keimel Redford lost a 3-0 decision to the Bears’ Austin McClure in their 285 match. Kain Rogers at 220 and Levi Grunder at 195 fell in 4-0 decisions.

Science Hill coach Jimmy Miller believes Friday’s match is one the Hilltoppers can build on.

“We had some seniors step up to get us in good spots there,” Miller said. “Even our young kids are taking kids to decisions and not giving up points. I felt we wrestled well in spots.

“We knew if we wanted to come out on top, we had to find ways to keep some matches close in the upper weights and lower weights. We just weren’t able to get the win.”

Topper wrestlers dig early hole, fall to Bradley Central 40-30

by: Jeff Keeling, Michael Epps

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – A battle of state powers didn’t go Science Hill’s way Friday night as the Hilltoppers fell into an early hole before losing to Bradley Central 40-30 in their first match of the 20th annual Fandetti-Richardson Brawl at Science Hill.

Things looked good early. Junior 170-pounder Liam Medina scored a first-round pin, giving the Toppers an early 6-0 lead in a battle between the second and third-ranked teams in the state. Things turned south in a hurry from there, though, and by the time Science Hill hit the strongest portion of its lineup, Bradley Central had reeled off 37 straight points.

With just five matches left, even five pins by Science Hill would have resulted in a one-point loss.

Science Hill makes strides in Fandetti tournament

DOUGLAS FRITZ • TODAY AT 9:06 PM

Science Hill didn’t come away with hardware, but the Hilltoppers had some good performances in the Fandetti-Richardson Brawl on Saturday at The New Gymnasium.

“We wrestled against solid kids,” said Science Hill head coach Jimmy Miller. “There were some monsters in this tournament. This is a building block. Our focus is going back to work Monday and looking at the district and conference matches we have this month.”

Memphis Christian Brothers made its long trip worthwhile, winning the event with a total of 232.5 points. Bradley Central was second at 229.5 while Science Hill finished third with a total of 176.

Elizabethton claimed the only individual crowns for local teams. Deuce Morton ruled the 195-pound weight class, topping Christian Brothers’ Connor Billingsley in the final. In the heavyweight class championship, the Cyclones’ Joseph Kechter beat Bradley Central’s Austin McClure.

Miller said the tournament held up once again as a premier event.

“What you’re seeing on these mats, some of these matches could be better than our state finals,” he said. “You’ve got multiple state medalists on every mat. There’s nothing better for Science Hill and for our team than to bring quality kids in here, sleep in our own beds, and get our butt kicked in our own gym. People tell us we have a great tournament, and I say it is a great tournament because we rarely ever win it.”

Science Hill’s Jared Harter battled Joshua CizMadia of Fort Mill, South Carolina, in the 160-pound final. CizMadia got the better of Harter, but it was a tough tight match throughout.

“He was a tough kid,” said Harter. “I definitely felt like I could have done a lot of things different to win that match. But that’s why we wrestle. You’ve got to get those losses out of the way before the state tournament, because that’s what really matters.”

Harter said he needs to work on starting from the bottom.

“He was a tough top rider,” said Harter. “I couldn’t find any space to get out. I have to work on bottom; continuous movement.”

CizMadia earned most outstanding wrestler for the upper weight classes. Pigeon Forge’s Garrett Foreman (138 pounds) earned that honor for the lower classes.

In the 132-pound championship, Science Hill’s Tyler Seeley got off to a nice start against Maryville Heritage’s Hunter Davis. Seeley jumped ahead 2-0 and 4-2 before getting in a trouble spot late in the second period. Just seconds before the period ended, Davis got the pin.

“I just got caught in a weird position,” said Seeley. “There was nothing I could really do in the moment. But I can be prepared for that the next time I wrestle him. Because I will probably have to wrestle him at the state.”

As for moving forward, Miller said the main thing wasn’t wins or losses on this weekend.

“My biggest concern coming out of here is staying healthy,” said Miller. “I can’t fix sick, and I can’t fix broke. I can fix mental mistakes. We can fix lungs. Sometimes we can maybe help change hearts.”

These five teams boast 17 nationally ranked wrestlers and will bring plenty of clout to Blair Academy on Saturday for a loaded day of dual-meet wrestling.

Delbarton does get a shot to wrestle Blair in one of the day’s marquee matches while St. Joseph gets it chance to take on Tennessee’s Baylor School and Belmont Hill from Massachusetts.

Science Hill set to host Fandetti-Richardson Brawl

JEFF BIRCHFIELD • JAN 10, 2020 AT 11:00 AM

The Fandetti-Richardson Brawl is two decades strong with the 20th annual wrestling meet to be held Saturday at Science Hill High School.

It brings in some of the best competition around from Tennessee and neighboring states. The 2019 tournament medalists went on to earn 41 state medals and eight state championships in their respective states.

It’s a labor of love for former Jefferson County and Science Hill head coach Jeff Price as the tournament honors the memory of Scott Fandetti, who died in 1996 while still in high school, and Todd Richardson and Scott Moffat who died in 2008.

“It’s cool that we’ve been able to keep it going,” Price said. “When Scott (Fandetti) died, that was one of the worst days of my life. With Scott, Todd and Scott, that was one of the coolest teams I ever coached. I promised myself that I would make sure they would be remembered. It means a lot to me.”

Price expressed his appreciation to current Science Hill head coach Jimmy Miller and others for the work they do to make the tournament a success.

Beyond the Saturday format, dual matches are scheduled for Friday night. They include a matchup of traditional powerhouses Bradley Central and Science Hill.

For the Fandetti-Richardson Brawl, there is a modified 16-man bracket with a pool system to get more matches in. There are also junior varsity and girls tournaments. From the start, there has been an emphasis on bringing in the best teams available.

“When we started it, George Pitts was the principal then,” Price said. “George said, ‘I want you to have the toughest tournament in Tennessee.’ The first few years we were figuring out what we were doing. When Jimmy came in, we expanded the fields and have had iterations from having it at the (Topper) Palace to Freedom Hall to the new gym. Now, we’re going to have matches going on in the old gym and new gym. It really is as tough as any tournament in Tennessee.”

A good showing in the Fandetti-Richardson Brawl has parlayed into later success for host Science Hill. Price gave a couple of recent examples of that happening.

“The year we finished fifth in the state, we finished second (at the Fandetti) behind Christian Brothers,” Price said. “The year we were second in the state, we won the tournament. This is a good measuring stick of where we are and how we stack up.”

CLEVELAND, Tenn. — Wrestling flows in the veins of Bradley County.

And for No. 1-ranked Cleveland High School looks extremely capable of a third straight sweep of the Class AAA state dual and traditional tournaments.

The Blue Raiders wasted no time asserting their power Thursday night, opening a crosstown rivalry match with four consecutive pins on their way to a 42-27 road win over third-ranked Bradley Central.Senior Nate Schilling brought an end to his 160-pound match in just 32 seconds.

"Nate is one of our huge success stories," Cleveland coach Joey Knox said. "He would go wrestle every weekend and get his butt whupped when he first got here. But he stared adversity in the face and has worked his tail off. He's been behind some really good guys, and now it's his time. I would not be surprised if he won state as a first-time starter."

Cael Laxton opened the match by racking up nine first-period points before his second-period pin. Senior Zach Brezna followed Schilling with a pin in the last four seconds of the second period after building a 12-4 lead.

At 182, Te'toe Boyd carried on the streak as he stuck his opponent in the final period to build a 24-0 lead for the Blue Raiders.

"We had some hammers open up the match (at 152)," said Brezna, a four-year starter. "We wanted to go out there and set the tone of the match, and we were able to. This program has shaped me into the man I am today. It's shown me heart and what hard work and dedication can bring.

"We are a family, and that's how we roll. Everyone pushes each other harder at practice, and we want to keep it rolling one after the other."

Cleveland has an overall record of 80-3 under Knox and is 11-1 this season with the loss coming out of state to a team in Georgia.

With reigning state champion Jackson Bradford (120) sitting out Thursday's match, there is still room for improvement.

"Our guys are always buying in and seeing what they need to be doing," Knox said. "Zach has been a tremendous leader. He's not scared and went out there after his guy tonight. We have a lot more in the tank still, though. We have to take care of business and get our guys back from injury so we can take care of a state title."

Despite the big early deficit, Bradley Central did not pack things in as a program with 26 team state titles all-time won four of the next six matches.

Tyrone McDonald started that flurry with a 7-2 decision at 195, and heavyweight Austin McClure registered a second-round pin for the Bears.

In a showdown of No. 1- vs. 2 state-ranked wrestlers at 106 pounds, top-ranked Ethan Wilson held a 4-0 lead and survived a late takedown by Cleveland's Bentley Ellison for a one-point decision.

Luke Belcher cut the deficit to 30-18 with a third-period pin after leading 10-3 over Jax Godfrey in the 120-pound match.

But Blue Raiders reigning state champion and Army commitment Trae McDaniel sealed the victory as a strong cradle earned a second-period pin and 36-18 lead. Senior Garrett Stevenson ended the match with his team's sixth pin.

"This team has a bunch of hard workers, and we all have the drive to win," McDaniel said. "Everyone works hard in the weightroom. We lost seven seniors, but there has been no fall-off at all."
