Before we begin the final week of the season I'd like to thank everyone for the updates throughout the season on this topic. I cannot recall any negativity on this topic throughout the season as the posts have been on topic, insightful, and respectful. Good luck to everyone this week and for the 4 playoff teams good luck representing the region in November.

Week 11 Games:

East Hickman @ Cheatham County

Stewart County @ Camden

Harpeth @ Fairview

Camden had a good run of 12 years hosting the first round playoff game. I don't think there was another school in West Tennessee (any classification) that could say the same thing. Sad to see it end.

That was definitely a great run. At least you still have the playoff streak alive.

Huge game tonight in Fairview. With a win the jackets will finish the regular season 10-0 for the first time since 1979. A loss would give the region championship to Harpeth.

There's alot of buzz around town over this one. I expect possibly the biggest crowd ever for a FHS game. Go Jackets!

Here is what Region 6 will look like for the 1st round of the playoffs.

Camden at Stratford

Cheatham at Goodpasture

CPA at Harpeth/Fairview Loser

East Nashville at Harpeth/Fairview winner

People are saying tonight we will play at Camden because of some tie breaker... Even though Coach Martin's email even said the loser of Harpeth/Fairview. They say he corrected himself at today's luncheon. Who knows? I just know we are on the road somewhere :)

    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
