Chattanooga Tennis: ND, East Hamilton, Hixson Region Winners

Friday the 13th was a good day for Chattanooga tennis as six schools played for region titles (two against one another) with four winning championships.

​

In AAA at Cookeville, East Hamilton girls won 5-0, while Ooltewah boys lost 4-3.

​

In A-AA, Notre Dame whitewashed Central Magnet in Murfreesboro, 4-0, in both matches and Hixson boys edged Boyd Buchanan, 4-2.

​

AAA - East Hamilton Girls: The Hurricanes improved to 17-0 with a 5-0 win against the host Cavaliers for EH’s first AAA Region 3 title.

​

EH travels to Murfreesboro Oakland next Thursday in the state quarters with the winner advancing to Spring Fling also played in Murfreesboro.

​

A-AA Hixson Boys: The Wildcats (7-2) defeated Boyd Buchanan, 4-2, for its their third straight region crown. Hixson takes on Notre Dame May 19 at The Champions Club

​

Good First Year: Hixson coach Kaitlin Oscai was hired March 4, coached her first varsity match March 14 and has guided the Wildcats to district and region titles. The UTC grad played four years at Soddy Daisy, 2008-2011.

​

Good Four Years: A quartet of Hixson seniors are in their fourth year on varsity and have led the Wildcats to four district and three region titles and two (2014-15) trips to the state tournament.

​

 A-AA Notre Dame Boys: The Irish (8-3) defeated Cookeville, 4-0, and host Hixson May 20.

Notre Dame beat Hixson earlier in the season.

​

A-AA Notre Dame Girls: The Irish also beat Cookeville, 4-0, and won all matches in straight sets to improve to 12-1 and hosts Collegedale May 19 in the state quarters ... Notre Dame has won region titles four of the last five years (2012-14-15-16) with state titles in 2012 and 2015
