Metro Rankings

My rankings are as follows

1. Pearl Cohn - big win against the Burros in Week 0. Although the the Burros are noticably not the same as in the past years. Pearls athleticism is beyond most metro schools and I expect the firebirds to have a great season.

2. Cane Ridge - returns a lot of top talent here in Metro and finished with a great first year under a new HC. I expect the Ravens to soar this year in the district.

3. Hillsboro - even though they are down, Clayton is still arguably the best coach in Metro. The offense however seems to have gone down tremendously this year, any big changes over there?

4. Overton - while Overton may possess some talent, Bleacher is right, they unfortunately have not been able to get past the first or second round in recent years. I don't see that much changing, even if they have a high win season.

5. Stratford - Under Fitzgerald, I expect the talent level to increase each year and will subsequently result in more wins. It's just a matter of time until this all plays out, but the Spartans are on the rise.

CR and PC would have been a good game this year. The seniors at pc this year lost to CR is the Freshman city Championship I believe. Edited by FBfan26

I'm basing mine off of what I've seen or heard so far. It will all change as the season goes. I'm thinking CR will go deep in playoffs. I also think overton could go to quarter finals if not semifinals. The region is down this year. Hillsboro will be tough and get better each week. PC could go far in 4a but then again they could make an early exit. Stratford or EN could go far in 3a with cpa being down.

    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
    • you must not know how tssaa operates lol
