Needs to be black. parents want that and so do players. Just a good coach and not one of the ones mentioned already.

East will not hire anyone without metro connections.

That's a terrible basis to hire a coach on.  I promise you if the roles were reversed that would create a major firestorm.

Y'all need to leave Bruno alone. He's a good guy who's good to his players and they love him. The key to his success is that his players will fight for him. Every coach has strengths and weaknesses. The staff at pearl-cohn strength is in the way they get the players to play hard for them and be Unified.

The real issue is metro hiring head coaches at the school. There was time when potential head coaches interviewed at the board with the district AD, board members, principal, and school AD. Now it has become a joke!

Don't be fooled by the current hiring standards in today's Metro School.   So long as Roosevelt Sanders is the county AD, he will continue to dictate who is hired at high profile schools (schools that are or have been historically successful).  Example - when the Hillsboro job was open a few years ago, the Principal at Hillsboro's first choice was not to hire Fitzgerald, but because the higher ups wanted him, that's what they got.

So long as the good ol' boy system is in place from the same group that have been running Metro for all these years (Roosevelt Sanders, Tony Majors, etc), then you all will continue to gripe and moan about have's and have not's and recruiting.  Why?  Because they are only concerned about the handful of programs that have a chance to be successful.

So very true. Like I said earlier next coach hired at East will and should be black. Principal is a part of current good old boy system . Nothing wrong about it though because metro is a black school system.

Agreed!  That's always been Coach Brunetti's biggest strength as a coach.  He motivates his players to do extraordinary things and they battle for him and his coaching staff.  Pearl-Cohn won two state championships in 1996 and 1997.  The 1996 team came together and went on a great run.  There was absolutely zero chance that the 1997 team wasn't going to win it all.  THAT'S PERHAPS THE MOST TALENTED TEAM TO EVER PLAY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL IN THIS STATE'S HISTORY.  Honestly the teams of 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2005 were just as loaded.  They just lost in the playoffs before they could get out of the early rounds.

When Coach Brunetti took it over nobody thought he was the best hire for the job.  At the time everybody was wanting William Johnson to become the head coach.  This was before the axe fell on him for what had taken place at Stratford.

In the 14 years that Tony Brunetti has been the head coach at Pearl-Cohn they've reached the semifinal round of the state playoffs 7 times (9 times they've been to the quarterfinals or beyond).  They've gone to the state championship game 2 times.  That's pretty darn impressive.

Really hope the local high schools can conduct summer workouts, do as many 7 on 7 events possible prior to the start of the 2020 football season.  Metro obviously has plenty of faults but many of these kids' parents simply can't afford the tuition costs at BA, Ensworth, CPA and MBAs of the world.   The opportunity to play what i feel is the greatest sport on the planet is a privilege and this privilege is in danger of being taken away.  I feel for all of these kids, the kid's families and the coaches who invest so much of their time to help mentor and transform these kids into hard working young men.  Until you have taught/coached in metro Nashville, you don't truly understand the challenges these coaches have.  As a "metro guy" i almost always pull for these coaches/kids and i hope they get their chance to compete this fall.  Hope we can get back to talking trash again soon and enjoying the competition.

    • Agree. The man literally sacrificed time, moments, memories you can't get back with his own family for every single athlete at that school. (and many others) To those that continue to be negative about him and continue to bring him up; He's been loyal, hardworking and just his entire coaching career. Ask anyone that actually has a leg to stand on in regard to Coach.
    • Egotistical? That's a new one.  It's funny, I'm friends with two of the younger coaches that he "ran off" as you say. In fact, he helped them find jobs, encouraged them to do what was best for their growing families, provided advice, support and still does to this day.

    • Track has always been big at OR. Ran off about 7 straight titles in the 60s. Your hate for Gaddis runs deep, huh? What did he ever do to you, to make you disdain him that much? You can’t seem to stop talking about the guy. He’s living rent free in your head. Might wanna get that checked out, you don’t wanna go to the grave with that on your heart.
    • This late in the year, you’d have to think they’d go with an Asst. on staff, right? I’m pretty new to the area so still learning how folks do things around here…if Woods stays there to teach, it could be hard on a new guy/staff coming in…
