I could very well be wrong but i thought Shaeffer (along with a small committee) at Hillwood hired Tom Moore. I do agree with the sentiment that many of the metro Principals don't care about athletics. It is unfortunate.

He also hired his current basketball and baseball coaches

workinprogress
Only if a current head coach is interested in MW. The others have been or will soon be filled. HL hired from within. Overton hired Broome. And I would be shocked if Hillsboro did not hire from within.

If you are not getting the results that you desire why would you continue to do the exact same thing. Could it be that MNPS hires from within because they really do not wish to win. It's easy and less expensive to talk about winning than actually doing the work required to win. Do any of the MNPS high schools have a late bus (used to take kids home from after school activities) like most of the schools in Texas? If not they may want to ask John "KING JOHN" Cooper for some of his recent 34% tax extortion money.

These surrounding County coaches really don't know what our metro coaches go thru on a day to day basis. Looks can be deceiving!!!

You say that Stratford tried going outside the system but that it was a train wreck. What MNPS have been doing for the past 30+ years has not been working. Just because MNPS had one bad experience is that a reason not look outside the system? Strictly from an outsider looking in it appears that MNPS could care less about athletics. Yes, you have a few diehard coaches that want to do well but they are clueless on the administrative side as to what it takes to be successful. The question that I ask in my previous post about after school activities busses to get the kids home from practice went totally unanswered. How do the inner city/poor kids get home from practice? Is transportation a reason that more inner city kids do not participate in athletics? I truly get the feeling that few if any of the coaches and administrators in MNPS have ever traveled outside of their comfort zone to see how schools in other states get things done. If by chance they have looked elsewhere have they truly campaigned for change or are they forced to bite their tongue for fear that they will be terminated? With all of the great athletes in MNPS it has been way too long since any of the schools consistently (several years in a row) competed for a state championship in football, basketball or baseball and that my friend is not acceptable.
