On the TN High coaches show a couple of weeks ago, they said TN High had non-conference games with Virginia High, Elizabethton, and Lee County going into the 2017 season. They were also in negotiations with another team if Sevier County is unsuccessful in their appeal to play in region 1.

I understand the Virginia High and Elizabethton games, Sevier County I get too, but Lee County? Seems out of left field.

I guess the days of playing DB and Science Hill are gone?

Understood on both accounts. Do the Vikings look to be improved next year? Sad to see them down this year.

I think they'll improve somewhat next year.  They had quite a few sophomores on offense.  I've heard the 9th and 8th grade classes were fairly decent, so it may be a couple of more years before they get back to where the community expects them to be.

Betsy and Greeeeeeeeeneville?      Are you sure??

Losing to another 6A team or a top 5A team is not that bad, but a very potential loss to 2 4A's does not look good at all.

DB lost to William Blount this year and have had plenty of head scratcher losses in the past. Losing to two premier 4A teams in the area wouldn't be the worst thing. Perception is everything though, so you have a point.

Any word on Boone's non-conference opponents?

As of late Boone has scheduled Elizabethton, Science Hill and Greeneville....   Heck why not go ahead and line up Alcoa and Maryville while we're at it....   *sigh*....     We have not been over .500 since 2011 and it is starting to depress the boys.    I don't know why our coaches keep scheduling known losses, but oh well you play the hand you're dealt.

Now on to DB....   I just think it would be degrading to lose to schools < 1/3 your size no matter how good they are.     DB has everything to lose and nothing to gain by playing Eliz and Greeneville.   If they win then it will be "Well you should beat them, look how big you are" but if they lose then... well we all get the idea there...

I look at it a lot different since DB has a Greeneville boy over the school system and nobody cares about anything but the band up Here now.I would find it degrading as a former Devil to lose to what this DB program has become more then look at what we did.It doesn't matter how big a school is if they don't have a person who will make the changes and gives the kids what they need.If the leadership was worth it's salt, the kids would be lined up to play for this once proud program. They would have a head coach, strength program, trainer, complete staff that could guide them deep into the playoffs.

I've been away from the board for a few years, make it to a game a few times a year, and keep up with stuff on social media. Is it as bad as everyone makes it out to be? I know Clark isn't the same, and the coaching staff is local, do the best athletes not play football anymore? Basketball is down for sure. I know the band is firing on all cylinders, they get alot of attention. Catch me up Batman.
