WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT COLLEGE FOOTBALL RECRUITING?

Hello to all that read this topic, I am a retired High School coach with over 30 years of teaching and coaching young men the great game of football. I have over 20 ex players that are now coaching in the high school ranks and a few that are in college and NFL coaching. Over those 30 years I had the privilege of working with great coaches at every school I was at; while I was fortunate to be the Head Coach at 4 different High Schools and assistant at 4 schools (2 schools in which the Head Coach was an ex-assistant). Starting back in the late 70's working with hundred's of great players who got an opportunity to play college and a few in the NFL;until last year working at Walker Valley with Coach Ryan to see a couple of our players make a commitment to play at the college level; it has been a privilege to work with thousands of kids.  Over the years I have had players sign with FBS, FCS, D II, D III, and NAIA but the majority of kids never play football again after that last game on a Friday night.

All this being said, I have learned a few things about what it takes to play at the next level and I am thinking about building a website just for Tennessee football players who can post a video along with profile information for contact purposes to help assist your high school coach in making information available to any college who is looking in the state of Tennessee for players. If I am able to get it setup the way I want to, the process will be free to the players and coaches. I will tell you this; that more kids will have to walk-on or get partial scholarships than those who will get full scholarships.

But before I tackle this new adventure for me, I want to hear your feedback, if this is something you would take advantage of and or visit the website to see who across the state is wanting to play at the next level?

Again thanks for taking the time to read and looking forward to hearing your feedback!!

P.S. Just so you know I wasn't an English teacher so forgive my mistakes. lol

    • Why would the tax payers be responsible for paying for only a coach? In recent years with all the theft from various programs in schools from different programs with booster clubs (not just sports) the State of TN has made alot of rules surrounding booster clubs and how they handle money.  I have two documents to review, 1 is 40 pages from the state comptroller and the other is 37 pages from my district, so I can consider starting a booster club for my middle school program. It has been too much trouble in the past for the other coaches.  There is no way there needs to be an adult in the school building for 7 hours a day with no responsibilities except coaching.
    • The only thing that was said at half time of the 45-0 game was Coach Story, he said: "I know y'all have been out there a lot, but kick-off team, y'all need to get down there faster!" Then he and the other coaches proceeded to go into the coaches office and we all went nuts!  It was the only time I can ever remember coaches not saying anything at half time. Definitely a great memory!!!
    • Boyd could actually be a grade below what he is now, but his parents didn't see the need to "redshirt" him like the other city school down the road would have pushed for....
