Greenback and Alcoa are only 19 miles away. It's a shame they don't play each other "for the community." Their credibility must be destroyed!!!

hahaha. That was really pretty funny. But really, how sour are those grapes?  GB is in Loudon County and if a county school three times their size won't play them, then the adults in charge should be embarrassed.

Heritage is skipping two counties to travel   just to play a 4A school. Facts speak for themselves.

30 something kids to 90????Hmmm inturstin. We have to try and stay as healthy as possible and with the schedule we play that's hard enough, throw in the 3A state champs and we may lose a horse we can't stand to lose.If GB had at least 50 kids it might be feasable.I know one thing Heritage and Willy B would have had both hands and their bottom lip full the past couple years with us,and most years would be some competitive games.I'm a Heritage fan so don't think I'm dogging you all but WB and Heritage should always play Alcoa in my opinion. Are you a Heritage fan or supporter? If not I don't see how it's any of your business anyway. Just trying to stir s$&@!

The reason Heritage and William Blount won't play Alcoa has to do mainly with a kid that transferred over to Alcoa simply by renting a house in the City of Alcoa as a way to be eligible. A ton of pressure was put on both Heritage and WB from the fan base if your going to lose to Alcoa we're not going to get beat with our own kids especially under that situation and not setting out a year. The TSSAA has very tough guidelines on transferring rules and some not so tough which fall under a very shady gray area.  This isn't the first time the county schools have decided  not to play Alcoa but have also done the same with Maryville over the same reasons in the past. Both schools in the county know they lose some of their better players to Alcoa over what they consider a very cheap Tuition Fee on today's standards which in most people's eye's are the cost of the free breakfast Alcoa provides in an entire school year. I don't have a dog in this fight but my direct source from both schools have told me these problems and feel the best way to stick it to Alcoa in through the pocketbook because they both know other than the Maryville game most years the crowds are very small and actually money losers for Alcoa. .

    • Agree. The man literally sacrificed time, moments, memories you can't get back with his own family for every single athlete at that school. (and many others) To those that continue to be negative about him and continue to bring him up; He's been loyal, hardworking and just his entire coaching career. Ask anyone that actually has a leg to stand on in regard to Coach.
    • Egotistical? That's a new one.  It's funny, I'm friends with two of the younger coaches that he "ran off" as you say. In fact, he helped them find jobs, encouraged them to do what was best for their growing families, provided advice, support and still does to this day.

    • Track has always been big at OR. Ran off about 7 straight titles in the 60s. Your hate for Gaddis runs deep, huh? What did he ever do to you, to make you disdain him that much? You can’t seem to stop talking about the guy. He’s living rent free in your head. Might wanna get that checked out, you don’t wanna go to the grave with that on your heart.
    • This late in the year, you’d have to think they’d go with an Asst. on staff, right? I’m pretty new to the area so still learning how folks do things around here…if Woods stays there to teach, it could be hard on a new guy/staff coming in…
