I believe how this works is that it will be at the highest seeded District 4 team still alive. So the winner of the Bearden/Maryville game will have the inside track to host. If they are both eliminated, then it will go to either Catholic or William Blount if they advance. If no District 4 team advances to the semifinals, then the region will be at Powell, the District 3 champion.

Bearden came out to play early, but after a 17 point lead at the half, they ended up down one at one point, then they managed to collect themselves to win 67-58. Joe Anderson played great, kept them in the game mostly.

Is it true that Maryville lost so they wouldn't have to face Oak Ridge in the semifinals? Take that RW87 :D You know I am joking. This should be a great Region Tournament.

Bearden has to be the favorite with Maryville # 2 and Catholic /Oak Ridge tied for # 3. The other teams will have to play like Powell did against OR on Friday, SOLID.

I'm glad to see both teams played to win. The Riverdale and Symyrna girls teams were kicked out of the post season in 2015 for losing on purpose to avoid  #1 Blackman.

Willie you mentiond this being a great region tournmanet, that's an understatment. It's going to be an unbelievable tournament.  Some very strong teams in this region.  We were looking at the numbers and the teams at the top of the bracket, 1) Bearden 33-1, vs. 4) Karns 21-7, 3) Oak Ridge 20-7 vs. 4) Catholic 21-7 have a combined record of 95-22. The teams on the bottom of the bracket 1) Powell 19-10, vs. 4) William Blount 13-16, 2) Maryville 24-6 vs. Anderson County 21-12 have a combined record of 77-44. This regional will be tough. Any of these teams can win this.  It's like an NCAA tournament lol

With the third quarter that Maryville had last night offensively and defensively, it looked to me like they were playing to win.

I would agree that Bearden is the heavy favorite. I would also agree that Maryville would be the favorite to emerge as the # 2 team and get a sectional berth. Powell is my # 3 pick and Oak Ridge is my # 4 pick- not because I think Powell is better than Oak Ridge but because I think it is more likely that Powell would beat Maryville in the tournament than it would be for Oak Ridge to beat Bearden on Bearden's home court.

Just in case, I was joking about Maryville trying to duck OR in Basketball  The Red Rebels only do that when Oak Ridge calls to try and schedule a football game

Once again, I am teasing. Don't be mad at my foolishness.

    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
