Boone vs. Crockett - The Musket Bowl

Crockett had several passes dropped that should have been caught, could have made a difference in the outcome.   That's how close this game really was.    DC is a very good team, they will roll over Morristown next week to secure a playoff slot.    Boone needs to work on a few things before the playoffs start or it will be an early exit..      Oh and BTW, at the end of the game Kimber Halliburton presented a MUSKET to Boone, so I guess this we-are-one garbage is over too.        Pioneers and Blazers, let's both finish next week with a win and then make some noise in round 1

GS advised them to transfer.  They were GS die-hards and took his suspension very hard.  I don't believe they had practiced in 2 weeks.  From what I heard, Lingerfelt had been trying to contact their parents to get them back into the fold all week and they finally just showed up at halftime, then he put them in late.  That's how it sounded in the interview he gave to WJHL, at least.

I was at the game tonight.  Early on it was sloppy, then it was mostly Boone with Crockett sputtering throughout the first half in fits and starts.  The second half was a different story.  Great game and good to see the Crockett team continuing to fight through it all.  Congrats to Boone on their first ever conference championship after 40+ years as a school.

See this is where you have the TSSAA rules about where people live and what not.  If they move, then they can play wherever immediately.  If the stay at the same house but pay tuition, if they stopped playing immediately, then they could play varsity in week 10 next year but that's it.

Yeah, idk where this "we are one" garbage started, but that stuff never needs to see the light of day again.

She dropped that a while back when she saw that nobody else was buying it, I think.  If you got the little Musket Bowl paper that was printed up at the game, she made sure she was displayed prominently on the cover holding a musket in a goofy referee costume.  That woman has to always make everything about her...

But, like most things involving rules and laws, I don't think that GS understood that when he told them to transfer.

The Kollies  have been wanting  to move for a long time out of state we have just got lucky they are still here. After  GS was gone one of the parents  wasnt happy. Id say it's a 50/50 chance they stay or move. When they got in on D they helped stuff the run in the 4th.  You could really say Crockett could of been Conference Champs they have the team with a ton of talent.

Could, but aren't.  That's a big if the way things played out.  Crockett had it this year, but some drama really sidelined their chances.  They could have had a home playoff spot if they could have had everything together last week, and yeah, it could be argued they could have won.

Good news for the Blazers is they know where they are weak.  Cherokee is essentially the same team as Crockett, so Boone better fix what needs fixing.  They have a piece of the conference championship, now they just need to win one more to outright win it all.  Cherokee has always been a tough fought game for Boone.

As far as GS drama  goes, support seems to be wavering quite a bit.  There was a right way and a wrong way to go about things, and his shouting down at everyone didn't catch on longer than a week.  Hopefully the rest of the season is going to go on without incident.

Boone has never had a good pass defense for as long as I can remember.    Crockett ripped 349 yards passing against the Blazers.    And its not like this was some type of surprise, Boone knew Crockett would run 50 pass plays, so we had to spend the whole week practicing pass D.    Crockett has it all to be a pass heavy team, which would include: 1) good QB,  2)  good O-line, 3)  good receivers.    Very few HS teams have ALL 3 together in the same season to be able to successfully pass 90% of the time.

Yep Cherokee will always be tough.   Boone has no chance of tightening up the pass defense in one week but hopefully can just outscore the Chiefs, who avg 31 ppg.

BTW, last night Boone had 2 picks and one was at the goal line to prevent Crockett from tying the game.  So I probably shouldn't say the pass D was totally bad, but something has to be fixed before the playoffs start.

Can't get beat deep.  From what was written up in the paper, take away the deep ball and you have a better game for Boone.  Gotta get those kids ready to roll against Cherokee, they'll be running that run and gun offense too.  Boone did get a tune up for them, so that is a plus.

Seen boone vs jc scrimmage.   Boone has plenty of talants and a great coach.  Congratulations to db for having a great year

Did anyone catch the live steam GS did last night via his social media accounts? He encouraged kids to transfer to DB, even going as far as telling anyone interested in transferring to contact him and he could get them some housing in Kingsport. So I won't be surprised if we see a couple of Crockett players in maroon and grey next year.

    • He may have possibly said that to get the best out of him. Back when I was in school word got out I was going to transfer and Coach Story popped off and ask Coach Wilson in front of the team if Maryville was going to get a jock strap in return on this trade. That got back to me and I got fired up and stayed just to show them up. Now today Coach Story is one of my best friends.
    • Dylan's Dad, I'm glad you replied. I wanted to reply but wasnt willing to take the bait. There were 20 wrestlers on the team. I may be mistaken and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe 5 of the 20 attend McCallie right now and one will next year. At most, there are/were 6 kids on that team who attend McC. That leaves 14 other team members who have ZERO affiliation with McC (outside of maybe some friends) who represented our state to the best of their ability and wrestled their butts off that weekend. That weekend was a first for Tennessee and obviously a small step in the right direction for us as a state. Congratulations TEAM TN BLACK!
