The new year is upon us with everyone starting practices this week.

Not much has changed in this district as they are the same teams....

What are your early predictions? Who is the player to watch for each team? Anybody know of any scrimmages these teams have planned?

My preseason predictions are as follows

1) White House -  Ward

2) Cheatham - Marberry

3) White House-Heritage - Neely

4) Greenbrier - Post player who transferred back from beech name??

5) Harpeth - ???

6) Sycamore - James left so ??

7) Westmoreland - ???

Ashton Oskin will be a PTPr this year.  Don't count him out.

How did the heritage portland scrimmage go on monday? anyone know?

White house scrimmaged Hendersonville and Franklin Simpson last week.

White House Still missing about 4 varsity players due to football. They lost to Hendersonville by about 10, and lost to Franklin Simpson by 4 points.

White House travels down to their bi-annual scrimmage against Hillwood today, University School of Nashville will also be there.

Heritage + Portland scrimmaged on Tuesday for 8 Qtrs. Mix of Varsity/ JV.

Both teams looked sloppy as to be expected. Both are young... Heritage is breaking in 4-5 new faces into the rotation. Portland has Springfield’s old coach - we’ll see how that works.

Heritage will likely take their lumps early in the season as the young guys are figuring things out. These kids should have already played a ton last yr during some of the blowouts... they didn’t. That’s Petrone for you.

Ok, so What does WH-Heritage have?

What are the differences in White House HS and WH-Heritage? Are they competing for kids now or does the county line pretty much decide that?

What does each do well? When I followed this district before Heritage was single A. Used to follow it years ago and now I am back in the area.

The county line determines which school you go to.

Sumner - White House High School  Robertson - White House Heritage

White House plays an up-tempo type game. Shooting threes and lay-ups basically with 4 guards/wings around a post player. They also play smaller with 5 wings or guards. They run variety of defenses that I have observed from man to man, zone presses, and 1-3-1

White House Heritage plays a slower type tempo game. Usually with 2 bigs. More controlled set play type offense. Petrone's speacialty of continuity ball screen offenses. Usually run man to man exclusively.

Heritage has a solid front-court this year, with a senior PG who is currently injured

    • They are the same school system
    • Unfortunately the Sweetwater thing spooked some principals and ADs looking for head coaches in this cycle, even though Caleb wasn't at fault in any way. He had multiple OC opportunities. Personally, I'm glad he chose Karns, given that my oldest grandson plays in their middle school program.  Caleb is a good coach and a class act. It's a win for Karns to get him.
    • I was asked about this untrue speculation last night at our banquet(and several times over the last few weeks) which has been circulating on this website and through word of mouth. I am not taking the Rockvale job, nor have I even interviewed for that job or ANY other job since coming to Tullahoma. I have no desire to leave Tullahoma, my family and I love it here. We are committed to building our Lady Cats basketball program. I wanted to make sure our players, parents and stakeholders didn't get mixed messages from what I have continued  to communicate from day one and the untrue speculations of me leaving.  Coach Hibdon As stated above and I will add for clarification. This includes Blackman, we have no desire to leave Tullahoma, go back to Rutherford Co (even Blackman) or ANYWHERE else. There has been speculation from day 1 that I may be leaving for another job particularly RuCo and I have had to address the speculations many times. So I felt it necessary to make a statement for the basketball community and mostly our Ttown community to hear my commitment again amongst these constant rumors. We love this community, love living by the lake and no desire to move our 3rd grader and 6th grader from this school system. I wanted to make these statements for all those who are invested and interested in Lady Cats Basketball that my family and I are committed to being a part of Tullahoma High and the Tullahoma community for many years.
