ahhh, right. i totally forgot that someone would want to play for a perennial losing team and losing fan base as opposed to go to a winning team. that's almost like if you're a 5 star choosing to go to vanderbilt over alabama. makes sense,

No they go to every where but UT. Vandy is better than UT.

RUMORS FROM THE MARYVILLE METRO AREA

* Shad is negotiating for a position as Night Assistant Manager at Happy Wang's Chinese Massage Parlor.

* Passiveaggressive  is confused with all the pressure on Opiate producers and would like his Congressman to have the pharmaceutical companies quit making diuretics because it creates more work cleaning the urinals.

* Maryville H.S. will schedule a out of state nationally ranked H.S. team next season from Cali, Tx or Fl. Afterwards will hire a damage control team formally used by Hillary Clinton to explain the loss.

* Maryville coaching staff will appear on 60 minutes to explain how with so many State Championships so few of former players end up on Division 1 teams and of those who do never make an NFL roster.

* The Glory Club of overweight 30+ year olds that still wear their State Champs ring will be meeting at Bubba & Pearls Buffet Thursday night to reminisce about the glory days and discuss Gastric Bypass.

* Rebelwoman will hold cotillion classes and the art of fine dining manners at the VFW on Hobbs Rd in Alcoa she requests attendees wear their best bib overalls and wear deodorant.

* Greyrider will star in the Community Theater Actors Guild in the stage version of Broke Back Mountain. He will tell people "I just can't quit you" for months afterwards.

I don't like repeating rumors so you better listen closely the first time. More as my sources report in.

Danny Ray live in Maryville city limis ? Don't watch any on starting anything. I sure he live there sometime in his life, l mean when he played for the Rebs.

Actually Stars was the one who got Danny to play for the Maryville Little Rebs, no joke. If he hadn't of came along he would have never been introduced to football and ended up going to Everett like his other two brothers who didn't play football either and he did live in the city limits.

    • Personally I was pulling for Lee Hammonds to get another shot. He’s earned it!
    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
