I watched the game just last week and Ensworth had 6 turnovers. Regardless CPA got the win which means they have a darn good team. I'm worried but yes I'll be in attendance next week. Any good places to eat near campus?

Gotta agree with the last post Sams Place is awesome

Wow that bad huh? That's would be a worse beating than Ensworth and McCallie. In your opinion is it a bad matchup for Webb or is CPA that much more talented?

Spartan, I will be pulling for Webb now that CAK has been eliminated. However, I hate to say it but this game does indeed have the potential to be a mild blowout unless the Spartans can shorten the game, catch a few breaks, and end up +2 or +3 in turnovers.  CPA is easily the most complete team I have seen this year.  Webb is great in many aspects of the game; ND is great in other aspects of the game.  CPA is strong in every aspect of the game.

They have a balanced offense...VERY balanced...depth and speed at RB, size and good hands at WR, and a QB who's not necessarily pinpoint accurate but manages the game well and doesn't make many mistakes.  Most importantly, their OL is VERY good--big, strong and well coached (a fair amount of holding on the interior but not so obvious it gets called a lot).  Offensive play calling is creative and unpredictable.

Defensively, CPA is very strong in every unit.  Will Webb's speedsters reel off a few long runs?  Yes, a few.  But not many.  CPA's D is strong, quick and well coached.  The MLB is the best all-around player CAK faced all year.  He can run sideline to sideline with your speedsters.  DL is strong, other LBs are very athletic.  The secondary didn't really get challenged in the CAK game because our passing game was so off kilter that night.  But from what I could tell the CPA DBs were good in coverage and also run support.  Even their special teams were solid.

CPA dressed at least 80 players Friday, maybe 90.  Of course, they don't play that many guys.  But with a 2:1 or 3:1 advantage in the raw number of players, it's quite likely their 1A's and 2's are better than Webb's 1A's and 2's, and a lot more of them.

My best guess, barring a big turnover advantage favoring Webb, is something in the range of 35-14.  I don't think CPA will crack the 40 point mark because I suspect Coach Meske will try to shorten the game by grinding out long drives to keep the ball away from CPA's offense as much as possible and just try to make the game shorter and keep it as close as possible going into the 4th.  Good luck.

Well they probably are the best team you guys saw this year but we've seen very similar in Ensworth and McCallie. We will have to play really well. I am surprised that no one is giving us a chance at all. It will be interesting to see if our boys can compete better than predicted.

You've got a chance.  Webb has talent and is always well coached. I am just afraid Webb will have to play a near flawless game and get a couple of breaks to have a shot at the W.  Good luck.

I agree. We need more depth, particular on the lines. I think we will get that within the next couple years but the way we play up front will determine if we can stick around. If this was 7 on 7 we'd be fine. The lineman will determine the outcome, along with winning the turnover battle...no blocked punts haha.

I think you're on target...LOS will determine this one.

By the way, I hope you get a better officiating crew than we got at CPA Friday.  Literally one of the most bizarre calls I've ever seen--one of CPA's TDs was a long run where there was holding at LOS that didn't get called...a block in the back downfield...which DID get flagged...but the white hat signaled it was "dead ball foul block in the back," so didn't negate the TD and was enforced on the ensuing KO.  If it was a "block in the back," by definition it was during the play and not dead ball; if it was after the play, it would have been unnecessary roughness.  Wacky.  A few other head scratchers by that crew, but more coherent officiating wouldn't have affected the ultimate outcome as CPA was just way too much for CAK to handle.

High school officiating has not been the best this year. I think each round the playoff advances it should get better as there are less crews needed. Im sure there will be a call or two missed Friday.Hopefully it doesn't impact the game too much.

Does CPA have any weakness? or is the entire team just as good at every postiion?

None that I saw.  As I mentioned earlier, CAK's passing game was so out of sync we didn't really  challenge CPA's secondary, but they looked good too on those rare occasions when CAK got a ball delivered on time on target.

A couple of times CPA's offense turned the ball over on downs and looked a little sloppy for a play or two.  But those episodes were rare and short-lived.  They are solid in all facets of the game and appear very well coached.  That doesn't mean they can't be beaten, but it will not be easy.

Warriors2011, thanks for all the nice comments.  I didn’t really understand the call you referenced either, it must have occurred after the play and the official just indicated wrong.  We’ve had a few head scratching crews this year and I’ve seen the same while watching other teams play.

Spartan4Life, the CPA coaching staff, players, and parents know Webb is a very good football team and all have the mindset that CPA has to play their very best to have a chance to play another week.  While I think this might be the best CPA team I’ve watched so far, I also saw them play the worst first half against Hillsboro that I’ve ever seen from a CPA team.  They know they can easily loose to any team going forward.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
