AllRegion
Well, it's time again for the offseason...and as much as I love basketball, it's a sad time for me. I'm already looking forward to kickoff of the 2018 football season. Every year, right after the state championship games, I like to see if I can take a crack and predict the next season's state champions. I didn't do great for 2017, but I did manage to correctly call 4 of the 6 Division 1 winners (D-II drug me down, haha). It would be fun if everyone joined in and made their picks with me! If nothing else, it'll be entertaining to look back on this time next year. As a disclaimer, I mean NO disrespect to any teams via lack of selection. Some of these are based on starters returning, and some are just a wild guess and a hope to luck up and be right. These are also not all teams that I happen to be cheering for 1A: Greenback 2A: Trousdale County 3A: Alcoa 4A: Greeneville 5A: Knoxville Catholic 6A: Oakland DII-A: Nashville Christian DII-AA: Grace Christian Academy (Knoxville) DII-AAA: Ensworth

Well, you may have found a bad pick on my end, LOL. Didn't know that Grace lost so much. I was impressed with what Bradley did in such a short team, but his senior-heavy squad may have aided in the turnaround. You're dead-on about Maryville, too. This is the first time I've ever picked against them, and I'm not very confident at all in doing so. I just keep hearing all that Oakland has returning, so I'm reluctantly going with the Patriots. Would you like to give it a stab? You always are knowledgeable about the game, and I think you would do well. Probably better than me

Your dad may be on to something with Henry County. I will do some research and revisit.LOL.
RaisedEmRightNStillPraying
I only know a little about one division.....DII-AA: Did somebody forget Luzianne has the studs coming back for a 3-peat attempt? CPA has all of their studs coming back too, if Patterson can get healthy....hopeful for him. They'll battle it out in the semis. In the East, ND has most all of their athletes back....just have to replace some big dudes, which they will. I kinda like the popular GCA darkhorse pick. I'll leave the bullseye on the competition.....for now. 1A - GB - lock this one in stone 2A - Union City (sure wish we were still in 2A......we'd have won that gold ball this year!!!) 3A - Alcoa - another lock 4A - Greeneville - Ballard can't be beat 5A - Catholic (they'll "recruit" replacements.....just watch and see!) 6A - Maryville - GQ will be proud of the dynasty continued DII-A - NCS - guessin' here DII-AA - ND - you're welcome Booger DII-AAA - BA - small college program prevails again

That's scary because he is strong and fast even as an underclassman. You make a good point about Webb as well...they were young and they return Elijah Howard, plus Meske and his staff are one of the best in East TN. 5A is one of the most wide-open (IMO), because everyone seems pretty even with the exception of Catholic, and I don't know a ton about what they have waiting in the wings. So he might be 100% right about Henry County...and I'm sure I'll hear about it from if he is, lol. That sounds like a plan...you have until August, so no rush

I must say, I think you might have me beat on a lot of those. It was very hard to go against Union City, BA, and Maryville. I will admit that Grace is going out on a limb (especially after I saw how many starters you all lose), but I've seen Coach Bradley work magic before. Coach Bradley's system always works, but sometimes it takes a year or so to get everything in place. I was surprised by how quickly it came together at GCA, and I expect him to (pleasantly) surprise everyone in 2018

We do lose a LOT though. We got better every week after the Webb game because of coaching. This off-season is crucial for our lines and RBs. We also had some guys most folks didn't know we had. Heck, it took us a handful of games to figure out what we had to work with. They had Booger's boys chasin' em all over the field tryin' to swat down balls (they got their share too.) We just forgot to play sound kicking game that night, and I still, for the life of me, do not understand why we kicked the darn ball to that skeeter 4-star?? Vol de-commit. (Can't blame him either....what a mess we've got in Knoxville right now!) Webb loses a TON of players like we do. They'll re-load as usual. Should be fun in our region next year. Biggest question mark for me right now with Meigs, Trousdale, Union City, Peabody, and Waverly all making a legit argument. Oh, and Adamsville. Definitely the most balanced class in my opinion.
