Meet the members of the Commercial Appeal 2017 all-metro boys golf team.

The golfer of the year will be announced at the Sports Awards, which takes place June 5 at the Orpheum.

First team

(Nominees for Boys Golfer of the Year)

Davis Irving

St. George's, Sr.

Why chosen: A past winner of the Best of the Preps golfer of the year award. Irving finished third at the Division II-A state tournament with consecutive even-par 72s. His efforts helped the Gryphons take second in the team competition.

Eli Maxwell, CBHS golf

Why chosen: After shooting 75 at the region, Maxwell turned in a strong performance at the DII-AA state tournament. He had rounds of 69 and 73 to finish second at 2-under 142, two strokes behind Drew Miller.

Why chosen: Another former Best of the Preps golfer of the year, Margaritis wrapped up his stellar career with a runner-up finish in Division II-A. He shot rounds of 67 and 71 to finish five back.

Drew Miller, Briarcrest golf

Why chosen: An all-metro performer for the third straight year, Miller became the first golfer in school history to win a state championship, shooting 68 and 72 to finish at 4-under 140 in Division II-AA.

Greg Odom, Middle College golf

Why chosen: After a regular season that saw him earn victories at the Memphis Publinks and Fellowship of Christian Athletes tournaments, Odom shot 4-under 140 to finish second at the Small Class state tournament.
