District 6A Showdown: PC at Clarkrange

Pickett County (AP #4) travels to Clarkrange (AP #1) tonight in what has to be one of the premier games in the state regardless of classification tonight! A Clarkrange win would all but guarantee the Buffs the #1 seed going into the district tournament. A PC win would in all likelihood create a coin flip later on this year for the regular season district title! Any opinions on how this one will go tonight?

PC has a huge advantage with Courtney Pritchett and Abbi Bilbrey inside IMO, and good guard play as well. Clarkrange has an advantage with great guard play that can offset PC's pace of play better than in years past. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out for sure! Good luck to both teams and hopefully we get a good basketball game and everyone gets out injury free heading toward post season!!

Great game to watch last night. Both teams played decent and it was a slugfest like many people thought it would be. Came down to free throws at the end and CR hit theirs, PC didn't. Bottom line was PC made the plays down the stretch to put themselves back in the game, and CR slammed the door by making free throws and a couple plays really late to slam the door. Great game to watch. Can't wait until the next one...

Best game I have seen all season.  Great atmosphere and I agree it was a slugfest.  Congrats to CR.  They are definitely going to be a tough out!

What side of the state are you from?  Just curious as you post quite a bit about Summertown and those teams. Have you seen them play? If so, How do you think CR and Pickett stack up against those teams?

Smack dab in the middle!  I just love watching HS basketball.  I would have to give a slight advantage to CR over Summertown if I had to put a wager down.  CR has been just so consistent when I have seen them and very well rounded and well coached.  Pickett v Summertown would, IMO, come down to whether Pickett can hit the 3-ball.  The post season is going to be a lot of fun.  Can't wait to go watch the tournament in the Boro!

Looks like Clarkrange is gonna win the district.  Interesting thing will be who is the MVP of the district.  I have saw Clarkrange play multiple times this season and the Monday girls have taken turns being  the best player on the nights I was watching.  I don't see either of them getting the award though because some just won't vote for a freshman.  Pickett County has several talented players but I guess I would vote Prichett MVP of district.   She can play any position and seems to be the rock for a very talented team.

I've never understood why some people won't vote for a freshman. If they're eligible to play and perform better than the others it seems only fair that they would be rewarded. Giving the award to someone else because they've had a nice career is BS. We're talking about stats for THIS SEASON ONLY! Sometimes the younger player is just better than the upperclassmen.

IMO Courtney Pritchett is hands down the MVP of this district. Take any one player off of Clarkrange and it doesn't effect them anywhere near what it would if Courtney wasn't there for Pickett. 3 players should be seriously considered and anyone other than these 3 would be a real surprise in my mind. 1. Courtney. 2. Kyleigh Hardy from Jackson County. 3. Taylor Strong from Clay County.

Now, obviously that means the best team in the district for the regular season doesn't have the MVP, but in my mind, I don't think they do. Take any of those three players off their teams and their team drastically underperforms their current level of play. Take any one off of Clarkrange and they still probably have the same record. At worst two losses to Pickett. Basically the same record.

I agree for most part.  Like I have said before I would probably vote Courtney MVP.  I do believe Pickett district record probably be the same without her thus far.  Maybe clay would have beaten them???

As far has the freshman thing goes I agree.  If they are the best player should not matter.  I watched Clark range again Tuesday and I am of the opinion freshman twins are their two best players.  One or both should be their team MVP.

    • hey goat! how’s monterey looking this year?!
    • several people actually. they said “snoball, do you know who railbird81 is on coacht?” I said, “never heard of her.” they said, “you ought to check it out they’re getting fired up on there like the old days.” well, you can imagine my disappointment when I came here expecting sharp, witty banter and all i found was more akin to toddlers slap fighting. and what looks like 1 guy/gal talking to themselves with multiple accounts.
    • Shopping? His family is loaded and he's 6'6 I'm pretty sure he could start anywhere in upper East TN,So no need to shop. Word is Witten got caught trying to work him out on campus and some 7 on 7 while playing athletics for Sullivan East. Word got around pretty quick and Someone turned them into TSSAA.
    • Quick update on Jacob -  Jacob celebrated his 16th birthday at Vanderbilt on Tuesday and has been in decent spirits.  His sense of humor has begun to show as he was visited by many friends.  He is swallowing a lot better now and has eaten some of his favorites (Chik-Fil-A and Five Guys).   He is getting prepared to head to Atlanta to the Shepherd Center first thing tomorrow morning.  His family has been waiting on insurance approval. In case you dont know the Shepherd Center it a world class facility and supposedly one of the best in the country for spinal injury rehab.  Praying for perfect results there. Considering the circumstances, Jacob is in decent spirits.  He has some reflexive movement in his legs which I think is probably a very positive sign.  Don't read too much into that just yet as there is no telling what the real prognosis is... just hopeful that is good thing.  I am really just happy that it seems like he has a punchers chance of getting something back.  He is a strong young man and very determined so I think he will fight as hard as he can in physical therapy while down in Atlanta. More than one of you has asked me about an address to send donations.  I know GoFundMe isn't for everyone.  If you want to go that route, you can make a check to "Blackman Wrestling Club" and we will pass anything received directly to the Kinderdines.   Jacob Kinderdine c/o Blackman Wrestling 4836 Trevino Court Murfreesboro, TN  37128 Also, want to thank everyone who has donated so far.  Jacobs dad will take a month off work and stay in Atlanta with him.  They need to learn how to take care of him and do home therapy work..... and surely Jacob will be glad his dad can be there.  All that could not happen without you all.  Depending on what happens, they will probably end up doing some home remodeling in order to accommodate Jacob at their home.  Thanks again. Here's a pic I lifted from Facebook of Jacob on Oxy talking to his Uncle.  LOL
