Football Play Clock
The staff will explain. It is expected that the National Federation will pass a change regarding the football play clock beginning in 2019. Tennessee has been given permission to experiment with the change a year in advance. The change would be a 40-second play clock that starts the moment the ball is spotted.

This goes along with the new college rule then they is going into play this season.

Expect a lot of delay of games early in the season.

Will the clock stop then restart if a measurement is requested or totally reset to 40 after measurement?

A measurement is an officials time out, so once the measurement is finished, you would have a 25 second clock with a whistle starting the clock.   remember, just because a measurement is asked for doesn't mean you will have one.
