Alcoa Tornadoes - 2018

In 3A I believe the gap between 1-2 and/or 3 is significant.  Some of it has to do with ability and a lot of it has to do with a mindset.  Alcoa expects to win 3A and win each playoff game by a sizable margin.  Pearl-Cohn, Covington, Milan, Etc. all hope to survive a gauntlet just to get to Cookeville.

In 6A Whitehaven expects to get to Cookeville.  Maryville and Oakland probably expect to play one another twice with the game on Thanksgiving deciding who goes to Cookeville.  Whoever survives that eventual classic has to turn around the very next week and play a Whitehaven team filled with D-I talent.  That's what makes 6A more competitive between 1-2-3 in my opinion.

Cane Ridge was a great story last year and I hate to "slight" them but I think Whitehaven will be on a serious mission to get back to the finals this year.

I think Maryville has one roadblock to a 6A title this year. With maryvilles coaching staff and the explosive athletes they have this year, I wouldn't bet against them in a close game. If it comes down to one play in the playoffs, I'm not betting against the rebs.

I think Maryville will be great.  Oakland will be awesome also. Maryville has brutal schedule.  Catholic, Oakland, Alcoa  and Fulton are non district games. In district  Bradley  County, Cleveland  and Ooltewah will be tough.

RR, Alcoa host Bradley County as their last summer scrimmage. Always welcome to head over and spy two upcoming opponents. I,m hearing that Bradley should be very good the season...

I don't know about spying because no one listens to anything I say anyways but this will give me a chance to see Alcoa before the season opener. Trying to figure out how to see all four teams if that is possible before the season starts. Wanted to see Catholic but only interested in seeing a scrimmage not a square dance.

Alcoa looked very impressive against Knox. West. West has a very fast and talented defense with two D1 level defensive ends. Alcoa ran it right down their throat! Wow!

Couple of things that stood out to me. #55 and #68 had big days imposing their will on the West D line and LBs.

#28 is gonna surprise some folks. #12 is explosive on both sides of the ball. #98 is almost unstoppable. LBs are quick but still learning. #25 will break a couple of long ones this yr. #17 is vastly improved.  #15 continues to be dangerous in the open field.

#44 is strong at point of attack. #6 and #2 can hurt you in lots of different ways.

You missed the best part of that scrimmage. The 1's came back out at the end. Both Teams got a little chippy. Alcoa ran it right at the West Defense. Two straight TD's for the F5.West was done!

    • Did he promise you a coordinator job or something if he ever got a head coaching job? He resigned? He was at the top of the dugout last night calling plays. I wonder if those 30+ parents would let him give their kids a ride. by the way the board meeting was last night and it was not mentioned. must have been at the work session earlier this week which is not public. must be trying to keep it quiet.  Since you know so much, how much is Robbie Atwood willing to pay Adam Cothron?  Didn't you slander Eden earlier on here? You also didn't know he was a faculty coach again so how much do you really know? Some people outside this county baffle me with their need to slander others.
    • He resigned smh, and have you ever heard of charged but not convicted. Some people in this county baffle me with their need to slander others. Have you asked any of the 30+ parents that signed a petition to get him reinstated at the board meeting this week how they feel about this? Just let it play out, at the end of the day the only people that will bring TC back are the ones that know what its about at its core.    People hate losing and they aren't used to it at TC. I for 1, and I'm sure others too, understand having a dip in talent and not being able to compete for a state title every year. But in the past, TC teams have outworked more talented teams, they didn't continuously lose the turnover battle, they didn't commit 8+ penalties in several games each season, and I believe several of the folks in town that want Blake out feel as if he is neglecting the history of the program. This is from a source that used to be extremely close to the program (not me lol), Blake gets out of school midday and the players show up and there is no practice plan or itinerary.  I also understand those that are on team Blake, when he has loads of talent, he wins. He does know football and he is a tremendous DC, and if the rumors are true then he will do great things. As for the board member issue, it is what it is, everyone that's true to the county know that and nothing has changed. I agree though that they should strive to make the facilities as good as we can. And as far as potential candidates, I agree there is very few options. West, Vetetoe (yes I know), and couple others that could have some interest. Whatever happens is massive for the program during a pivotal time before the next big wave of stars make their way through.
