Bryce Wallace Transfers from Marshall to Giles

But didn't parents already live in Giles County.

It was a trade deal. MC gets the next 2 prospects from Giles in 2020. Plus MC got an 8X10 autographed photo of Bo in the deal. Rumor has it that if declared ineligible then he will sit out and come back as a fifth year senior redshirt. I saw the ESPN truck rolling down 31A earlier today.

Parents live in Giles County?  Now the kid, who played at Marshall County, announces to the state that he's going to play at Giles County because his brother coaches there and he's only eligible if the parents live in Giles County where they've apparently been living the whole time.

If that's the case there's no way he can become eligible nor should he have ever been allowed to play at Marshall County in the first place.

Shame on t$$aa for letting this mess happen in the first place. Marshall County recruited this kid when he was an 8th grader in Giles County. They were put on probation not for the recruiting but for providing transportation to the kid for summer practice. So now his senior year Giles County recruits him back where he should of been the whole time.

Sounds like karma then

That would make him ineligible.

Let's cut out all of the nonsense here.  The reason that Bryce Wallace went to Marshall County and played football is because Giles County already had an established player at the QB position named Jon Bachus.  Bachus, who's family is from Athens (AL), just graduated from GCHS this past school year and will be playing college football at UT-Martin this fall.  That departure created the perfect opportunity for the Wallace's to be lured back to Pulaski.  Oh nevermind, they've lived there the entire time.

Bachus did not arrive at Giles County until his junior year. He was recruited by Giles County when they hired their former coach back O'Connor. He would have never arrived at Giles County in my opinion if Wallace was there. O'Connor coached his brother Bo Wallace who was just named offensive coordinator at Giles County.

The TSSAA may as well just do away with their transfer rule and write a new rule stating "an athlete is eligible at whatever school he is enrolled in from 8/1 of the current year until 5/31 of the following year. If a student athlete transfers from one system to another after the 8/1 date then that student is not allowed to participate in high school athletics for the year.  If a student transfers to another school system between 6/1 and 7/31 then that student becomes eligible at his/her new home school beginning on the 8/1 date."

The way that the rule is currently written is abused in many instances and creates major tension among coaches in the profession as it relates to "recruiting".

    • From my understanding, Jay Graham pretty much took over HC responsibilities in that game, so you can thank him. Cute Andy didn’t need help, though. Cute Andy could’ve beaten us without any assistant coaches.
    • Tax payer dollars are paid for certified teachers to "teach" and then coach. The primary job is to teach.  There are some district that ay awesome supplements and others that don't. Dyersburg and Dyer County are pretty close if I remember correctly. I would imagine that Football and basketball are above $10,000 now.  I've heard that Milan is $20,000 for boys basketball. I would imagine that football is more than that in Milan.  Collierville has camps that coaches get paid extra for. 3 camps a year, 100 kids a camp, $30,000 right there.  There are places like Memphis-Shelby County schools where the supplements are garbage even for the head coaches. I made less than $3,000 as the head assistant at Germantown in 2015 when we were 26-4 and one of the best teams in the Southeast. As a head middle school coach next year I will make between $4-5,000 at a municipal in Shelby County.  Coaches should be compensated for the jobs that are required but lets keep in mind that they are educators first.  It's pretty frustrating to other teachers that work their tale off teaching 6-7 classes a day to watch someone roam campus, not teach (or have very minimal responsibilities), and get paid the same (more with supplements) as a person who has the some years of experience or sometimes less.
    • This will get coaches leaving the profession very quickly if this kid wins this case. This is absurd...
    • yeah money aint right there anymore
