That is true and Caine is putting his touch to the team however just like in college or NFL, this team was already in place. Caine did not make these kids athletes or give them experience in a few months that was done in previous years. He was hand given a great group of athletes with multiple years of experience under the lights. Now i don't want to take anything away from him either, the kids seem to play with a spark of anger which sequatchie always showed. He is a good coach but he was given good athletes to coach. Just as you give a coach a couple years to turn around a program you have to wait a couple years to see how a coach will be when already starting off with a heck of a group.

When did these “multiple deep runs” in the playoffs take place? He only had one year beyond the second round that I recall.

1996 was Maynord not Herron as coach.

Yes but he played on that team so that has to count for something. And I do think Herron also made it to the second round a few times also.  I think his playoff record was 5-5....
