You can say what you want, but Lenoir City was a 5A playoff team last year that kicked our butts 34-18.  And they could have easily scored again to go up 41-18, but they kneeled near the goal line to run out the clock. And they returned everybody from that team, and they are expected to be a playoff team again. 

I did not expect WB to beat LC.... At all... And if you had told me we would stop them in the red zone multiple times and win with defense I would have said you were absolutely nuts. But we did! We actually figured out how to play defense for the first time in years.

Maybe the recent changes to the coaching staff did the trick. 

I was just excited to finally see some defense. You are right that WB is making good strides toward being a mediocre 6A team again, but if they can find a way to get the offense going and generate more points they might be pretty decent by the end of the year.

I would consider us to be competitive with Anderson County if our defense can slow down their offense and not look completely lost in the secondary like we did last year. At times, we had defensive breakdowns that resulted in wide open touchdowns for them. The scoreboard showed AC leading 21-16 with a minute left in the first half last year, but we had a major defensive breakdown in the final seconds that helped them take a 28-16 lead into the locker room. And things just snowballed from there. I want to see the Govs hang in there and not let the game get away from them again like it did last year. The AC game last year was one of the games where the Govs flat out quit. I dont want to see that again.

WB  2014  was 3-7 and beat LC, WB  2015 was 2-9 and beat LC, WB 2016 was 2-9 and beat LC.  Losing Satterfield from last yr was the difference in this game.

I have posted very little on WB threads for a while now, but last week I was asked if I was "Shadroach" on Coach T.  Shadroach has spoken a lot of truth concerning the coach down there that I agree with, but I have no dog in that fight anymore and I would never bad mouth their current QB, I coached that kid and he is a great kid from a great family.  And although I may not agree with how they have turned a blind eye to who they have running their program, I would like to think that I am friends with the current AD and other administrators, and Williebgovs is about as good of an individual as you will find.  If Shadroach had only spoken ill of Shad, I would have never come here to say anything...but he has spoken about some folks that I really respect and I couldn't stand the fact that they may actually think that it was me.  Carry on!!!

I think it is a bit of a stretch to say losing one assistant coach was the difference in the game.
