clifford20
Ok, it is time to officially give Dickson some love and respect. They are undefeated according to CoachT. They are 4-0 against Wilco Teams, and beat Goodpasture and Hazel Green. This is really cool and a good sign for volleyball in middle Tennessee. Really exciting.
TeeterTot
They have a pretty light schedule remaining. Would be interesting to see them take a undefeated record into the playoffs. The game against Page/Brentwood/Ravenwood would be fun to watch Edited August 28, 2018 by TeeterTot
mama2two
Sounds like they're having a great season!!
Osage
Dickson County won the Knoxville event this weekend, and according to AES, they beat some real teams along the way. Williamson County is used to sending 2 teams to the State Tournament every year, because the District Winner and Runner-Up roll through Region and Sectional rounds. That's no longer a certain thing.
pgd66
They took their first loss of the year to Portland, which by the way, look really good for a repeat state championship in AA. Impressive wins over Station Camp, Blackman, Franklin, and in the finals beat a Georgia team that eliminated Portland in the semis. Nice to see Dickson competitive again. clifford20
so who is the coach at DC? do they have kids that play club? What has turned the program around?
pgd66
Sara Robertson is the coach. Almost all play travel. Libero at TPV, a middle at Club West, both outsides at Alliance, and the rest from Dynamite in Dickson. Just a bunch of good girls that blend well together on the court. clifford20
This is such good news. anytime we can get non traditional volleyball school to be competitive it's a big deal. Now if we can get schools in Rutherford County and Wilson County competitive it would be huge. I can't understand why programs like Oakland, Stewarts Creek, Blackman, Riverdale, Mount Juliet, Wilson Central etc can't be good. Mount Juliet is a massive school with tons of kids and they can't compete. Same for Riverdale. Siegel and Friendship are both really good in those 2 counties, other than that, it's very average. Middle Tennessee Christian and Watertown are much improved, but still have a little ways to go. I haven't even mentioned Hendersonville schools, which are also average at best. Portland is the model. They take it very seriously and have for many years. Let's hope DC can get there.

Rockstar89
Dickson County should win District 11 with ease, but then in Region 6 play they will have to battle Brentwood and ______________ (Page, Ravenwood, Summit, Independence...take your pick on who plays better in the District Tourney. My guess, it will be Page) It's a shame that a team like DC with such a great season playing a pretty good schedule (30+ wins and only 1 loss as of this writing), has a chance to not even make the state playoffs. Not to mention all the other teams in Region 6/District 12 that won't get a shot, either. There are probably 6 teams in Region 6 AAA that deserve a chance to compete at the state level. clifford20
The only way this ever changes is if TSSAA starts allowing the top 4 vball teams into the region. Wilco's 2nd place team isn't great this year (good not great) so I think DC will have a chance. They are 4-0 against WIlco teams and also beat a solid goodpasture team. They def can beat the 2nd place team. As far as the rest of that district, they aren't quite ready to compete at the state level. What 6, region 6 teams do you think deserve to compete at the state level?
