coach763
Sad news to report...........My great friend and colleague Herschel Moore died this morning. He was without doubt one of the greatest football minds ever in Tennessee and the USA, It was a great privilege to learn from him. We will miss his great humor, and his knowledge of the game. Bighurt
A wonderful man and a great coach. I have never met anyone who loved football as much as Coach Moore.
ocac
I still have his handwritten book of his WingT offense, specifically the Jet Sweep. I once spent 8 hours with him on a Saturday seeking his knowledge. He did not disappoint.
sheppy
I saw Coach Moore go onstage with David McWilliams, Univ. of Texas coach, and talk for 30 minutes about 7 tech DE play vs. a TE. Old TACA clinic close to the airport probably 1980ish. Great Coach, great person. He may be gone, but his legacy will remain forever. RIP Coach Herschel Moore

Football and the world lost a good one. Prayers to his family.
Meeru
Amazing coach. The wing-T was his masterpiece but coaching was his art. Always accessible and ready to talk. Sad that the "young" coaches don't understand this. I wish they had been around guys like Coach Moore, Coach Moore at Sewanee, Majors, Boots, Ragland, Erk Russell, Bill Oliver-- I could go on and on. Some of these are still around. It was never about them, it was about the game and their players and the friends they made. I had heard about him all the time growing up and never knew how big of a presence he had in this area. I was reading about him today and felt dumb not knowing that we had such a legendary coach here in our backyard.
BURebels
Coach Moore was a great mind of the game. It was always special when he would be in front of the chalkboard drawing plays. He will certainly be missed.
MtJulietVol
I met Coach Moore during his time at Cumberland. I was barely a young man but had heard of him while in High School. I never knew him very well, but each encounter I had with him was a pleasant one. I'm sad to see him go.
