Top 3 Teams = Clarkrange, Pickett Co., and Clay Co.  Huge separation between top 3 and rest of district. Rest of district weak.

R.B.S. should be 4th if can shake Trousdale Co. yearly upset.

Jackson Co. takes huge set back this year Coach Brown will have to do a coach of year to get 4th.

Trousdale Co. , Monterey , and Gordonsville all will struggle this year.

That being said:

1. Clarkrange - never bet against  no worse than 2nd

2. Clay Co. - has overall most talented , should be 1st more likely 3rd

3. Pickett Co.- 2 top notch players , could finish 1st

4, RBS - only cause a little better than rest of field.

5. Jackson Co. - only cause of Coach Brown

6. Trousdale Co. -bad decision on coaching change, could have challenged for 4th

7. Monterey

8. Gordonsville

Way, way early....top 4 in this district are leaps and bounds above the next 4. The top 3 being Clay, Clarkrange and Pickett...two of those three will be in the state tournament, no question about it. Whoever finishes second in the district tournament will be sitting pretty. 1/3 will be in a dog fight in the go home game in the region semis! It will be an interesting year. My prediction....

1/2: Clarkrange and Pickett- Both win at home, either could be defeated by Clay. I could easily see a 3 way tie for 1st with all 3 of the top 3 holding serve during home games.

3. Clay

4. RBS (could give people some trouble late in the year)

5. Trousdale

6. Monterey

7. Gordonsville

8. Jackson County

Pickett Co remains loaded. Aaliyah Brown may be MVP. Abbi Bilbrey will be a terror under the basket scoring and blocking shots. Clay will definitely be in the hunt but Clarkrange would be a surprise to come in first. Jackson Co program seems to be in trouble but picking Gordonsville over them is doubful. I know they went with freshmen later in the year but they have a long way to go.

I no longer think Clarkrange would be a surprise to come in first. They look like they will win their 9th Gold Ball.

Any truth to rumor that Trousdale got a transfer that could be major impact.

Yes we got Shelby Petty from Mt. Juliet, she was committed to go play at Mercer but recently decommitted. She can play, does this make TC a threat at the top 3 spots? NO! But it greatly improves our chances for that 4 spot.

    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
    • you must not know how tssaa operates lol
