Cannon now tied with Macon in the district standings. Will be interesting to see how these last two games will play out for all the teams

Do u know the updated standings Cannonguy. Who does everybody have left to play.

DeKalb has 2 very winnable games left.   Both at Home vs Macon and Smith.

Found out this morning my DeKalb boys broke a school record for the # of losses in a season.  Not the type of season I envisioned from this team. Oh well, Moonshiner believes the underclassmen are extremely talented,  so maybe the future is brighter than it is now because we are at a all time low right now. Maybe we can put together something in the district tournament.

Congratulations to LA on a big win last night. Had them picked 3rd and they may well end up 1st.

I was basing a lot off other talk. I saw them once, and like the way they played.  A little size, some shoot well, a lot of hustle. We'll see.  Need players the 4 H's.   Head-Heart-Hearing - Hands.

Smart-determined-listens to coaching- shoots-catches-passes well.  If you get that ( even 3 of 4) , a lot of other stuff will fall in place

Hey Ice.............I heard the JV is playing 2-3 games Saturday at Watertown. Don't know about the times-who they play  or much else right now, but you might check them out.  May give some hope for the future, or maybe destroy all hope. I'm gonna try to make it, Rain has work backed up, but I'm gonna try.

I’ve seen the Dekalb JV play several times with 3 or 4 games with Upperman and 1 or 2 other times. Definitely better now than early in the season. They have a big kid 6’ 2 or 3” that played a time or two as he plays on varsity as well. They will be some help on varsity next season. They all just have to buy in and work the process.

    • Tyler Williams was the logical choice to be named head football. He served as the Highlanders’ strength coach and offensive coordinator.
    • I went to practice yesterday and liked what I saw for the most part. Derek and crew have done a good job during the off-season. I was very impressed with the size of some of those boys on the offensive line. My only regret was one of the boys I was really pulling for to have a good year was dismissed from the team. I have to applaud the coaches for setting examples for the others, no one is bigger than the team. One other thing, I was hoping with that big rain we got this week some of that  yellow paint would dissolve but it didn't.
    • Couple of thoughts: 1.  I just don't understand all the intricacies in TSSAA transfer rules anymore.    William Blount had a kid that played the final part of the basketball season with them this year,  that played at Hardin Valley last year, and played football for Bearden this year.  I say that to say, I know the coaches and the AD and the Principal at WB and I will never believe they would do something they knew was wrong.  They are men of character.  I BELIEVE the same thing about the coaches and administration at Maryville.  Call me gullible, but these are men and women of integrity in my experiences with them. 2.  Much like the transfer of the Clemmer kid a couple of years ago, with Smith, the football team is getting a huge boost, but the impact on the basketball team will be just as great or maybe even greater.  With Smith playing post, it frees the Sigmund kid who will be coming back from injury, to play more with his face to the basket.  The Rebels basketball squad in my mind, will be "the program" in East Tennessee next year.
    • Could not agree more. After this year, McKenzie's new coach will have their work cut out for them. Staying in 1A would definitely be a huge plus. Most years there is not much difference in the top 5- 1A and 2A teams across the state, but after the top 5 or so there is normally a huge drop off for 1A. Regular season region play is a lot easier for 1A in West TN  right now.
    • Word is Jason Maxwell will be new AD - he is currently head baseball coach. Also heard Roc might be headed to Pope as an assistant coach.
