DC is 2-1.  Lost a close one to WC last night. Closer than the final score indicated. DC was playing without their point who is hurt and he may have made the difference in the game.  WC was a step faster and looked more athletic.   DC played hard last night and came back from being 18 points down to take the lead in the 3rd. Costly turnovers and a surge by WC won the game.  DC may have a decent year this year if they can get everybody back from injury and the football boys up to speed.

Being down two starters didn’t help. I don’t think it would’ve affected the outcome but the score may not have been as bad. I like how we look when we’re healthy.

I agree. Having the true point guard hurt and having to rely heavily on a freshman is making things difficult. I saw that #25 had a knee brace on. He was playing really good ball. Both of those being hurt are a major problem.  I have been surprised by the  Elswick-Jenkins-Antoniac.  I saw a JV game or 2 last year and thought #5 and #25 had a lot of upside.    Injuries killing us right now.  Maybe they  get health quickly

It's been a LOOOONG time since I've seen them play as hard as they played against WC Monday.

We still have Hale who’s out for other reasons than injury. He started some last year and is a good ball handler and shooter. We’ve got the personnel to compete this season. I think it’s a good thing we’re taking a few lumps early. Ramos is going to be something else when he finds his footing.

I agree Moonshiner, I haven't ever seen this group of kids play that hard. Keep it up boys. Never played that hard last year, that was a good point.

    • As I said somewhere earlier in the thread, the original plans had no outdoor athletic facilities being part of the campus.  The original plan was for HVA to use facilities at nearby schools.  Very late in the process they came up with a plan and found budget to have minimal facilities and crammed them in to space that never was intended for athletic facilities.
    • Agreed, the way the field is turned you get the evening sun blasting right into the press box making filming a nightmare there, plus its so low.  The field is land locked and parking is a nightmare too. Seems like Knox County could have done a lot better there with the design and the quality.
    • I think this upcoming team may be pretty good, they will definately be better up front and if they can replace Dozier, Heyward and Rembert, they can be real good. They have the same strange schedule, but this time with 5 straight home games. The road games at Jeff County, Powell will be tough to open up with and the back side at Bearden is the tough game there.  One question I had if anyone knows: There has been some talk of an indoor practice facility in the past, with the new track area now more of a track area, that kind of leaves a need for a football practice area. Just sayin....
    • I find it hard to believe that 70% of a schools enrollment is zoned for another school district
    • I was told that the indoor facility is happening regardless of the vote on the taxes but it would be a much bigger project with more funds if they vote goes through
