District 4AAA 2018-19

Having my Captain Obvious moment because Bearden is the clear cut favorite to win the district title and probably the state title.  So I'm curious as to everyones thoughts about the rest of the district.  Here's my 2 cents worth on how I think 4AAA could play out:

1. Bearden (led by three D-1 recruits in Drew Pember, Trent Stephany, and Quez Glover)

2. Maryville (great three point shooting team and Joe Anderson is the reigning district MVP)

3. Catholic (returns 3 starters and Akeem Odusipe a D-1 recruit is eligible after sitting out last year, the Irish will be talented but very young)

4. Hardin Valley (saw them this summer and they were very athletic , deep, and shoot the three as well as anybody)

5. West (very quick team that plays good defense will surprise a lot of teams this year)

6. William Blount (played a lot of players last year, this team plays hard)

7. Heritage (should be improved and they have a really good coach in Dennis Godfrey)

8. Farragut (needs to replace a lot of seniors could be a dark horse)

9. Lenoir City (I'm not sure what they return, they did lose their leading scorer and they have a new coach in Brent Burns)

Of course what's written on the T means very little, these teams still have to go out and play, Please feel free to chime and add your own thoughts.  I actually saw Bearden, Maryvlle, Catholic, HVA and West play this summer.  My choices for 6-9 were based on what I saw last year.

William Blount finished 4th last year and return most of their team. I think they will challenge for top 3.

I know they finished 8-8 and 13-17 and  I’m sure the other teams in the league believe can all compete for spots 3 and 4. In reality teams 3-9 are all chasing Bearden and Maryville. I think those two teams are the top two teams in 4AAA. Catholics jv team went undefeated last year and those young guys will be counted on to contribute for Hutch along with some freshmen. I saw HVA this summer and they looked very impressive and they were deep. West looks like they’ll be better too. In the end it’s just one persons opinion who is trying to get some hoops talk going until the season starts. As stated they still have to play the games and none of the last 7 teams can overlook each other. Comments on the T means very little and this is a very tough and well coached district.

Obviously Bearden is the clear favorite and Maryville should be picked # 2. Bearden has a great shot at winning it all. Maryville has a good shoot at making it to Murfreesboro. Positions 3-6 are up for grabs and it’s anyones game.  If making a prediction I would say Catholic, William Blount, West, Hardin Valley, Farragut, Heritage, and Lenoir City.

I agree, 3-6 can be drawn from a hat.  Teams have to protect home court and "steal" a road game somewhere.

After watching a few of these teams early in the season. I would change a few of my predictions.

1) Bearden

2) Catholic

3) Maryville

4) William Blount

5) Hardin Valley

6) Farragut

7) Heritage

8) West

9) Lenior City

I like your predictions but Maryville would be second.

The season is one week old and already a key district game. Maryville will be at Catholic tomorrow night for both teams first district game of the young season. I’m sure Maryville is missing some of their players due to football. I’m going to go out on limb and say whichever team can stay out of foul trouble wins.

Big win for Maryville! Not sure how this game played out but a little surprised that  Maryville won only because they have no one to matchup with Akeem. Was he in foul trouble are did Catholic not have a good shooting night?

Akeem was in foul trouble the first half. He sat some of the first quarter and all of the second. But you have to give Maryville credit, they shot the three ball extremely well and Joe Anderson controlled the tempo. They spread Catholic out, forcing their bigs to guard smaller shooters. Their zone was effective. Collapsing in on Akeem.

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
