F. Each district may choose to break ties in its regular season contests using a modified tie-breaker system. Each district shall decide whether or not to use this option prior to the start of the season. If a district votes to use the option for its district contests, the following tie-breaker procedure shall be used in the regular season: Teams will play two 10 minute Golden Goal (Sudden Victory) overtime periods. At the end of the first 10 minute overtime period, teams shall change ends. There shall be a two-minute interval between periods. If, at the conclusion of the two 10 minute Golden Goal (Sudden Victory) overtime periods, a tie still exists, the tie shall be broken with the penalty kick procedure outlined in the NFHS Rulesbook. Beginning with postseason play, all contests shall use the NFHS tie-breaking procedure.

District 4 did not break ties in the regular season. If HVA beats Farragut, Then HVA and Maryville will have the same record. I was told if this happened, they would use goal differential. My question, do they use all common opponents or only district opponents for the differential?

Currently, with HVA having a game remaining, Maryville has a 3 goal lead in District. If they beat FHS by 3 they are still tied. Does anyone know where this is written down. It reads like the District decides it's own tiebreaker for seeding.

Typically each district has their own set of bylaws, therefore you would have to ask one of the coaches in your district what their tie breakers are.  More times than not, goal differential only goes up to 3 goals per game.  If there is still a tie after that, it more than likely would go to goals allowed and then goals scored. However, it all depends on your districts individual bylaws.  As I see it now Maryville is plus 11 and HVA is plus 9, a win of 3-0 would put them in first.

@Red Rebel: They only use District Opponents for the differential.  The way HV and Mville will pan out is that they share the Regular Season District Title, but HV receives higher seed based on their thumping of Farragut.

Each District is allowed to vote on their own rules and District 4 voted to end in ties.

Thank you. I followed the score on twitter. The heavy rain and an early goal must have demoralized FHS. 6-0, called at the half.

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
