Powell @ OR

I think I’m going to make my way up for this game. I think this will be a very good football game. Both teams are pretty strong this year. Powell has to win to make the playoffs. For OR just win and set-up the championship  showdown with Fulton. I believe I’ll be coming to that game as well, considering my eagles will most likely see the loser of OR vs Fulton in the first round.

Daaaang, somebody is snappy!! You ok, 92? Just poking at ya bud.

I'll tell you what's wrong with Dragon92...they played us close for a while, he got his hopes up, and then lost by 26! And then he becomes sullen and predicts that OR loses to Powell and Fulton! His anger at losing to OR by 26 caused him to lash out at OR!!!!!!!  LOL

I think the OR-Fulton game will be for the region title no matter who wins the OR-Powell game but my math could be off.

I think Oak Ridge is one of the top teams in 5A. They haven’t played a complete game yet this year. They will need to do it this Friday. But I’m going to take Powell, they are playing angry since the forfeiture of the 7 games. It will be a close one. Looking forward to watching this one.

I will be honest. I love OSUnut, he is one of my favorite posters on here, but I cannot stand Powell lol. Sorry nut, but I hope we beat the brakes off of Powell ha! How does everyone think this game will go down?

No worries, SS. I'm indifferent about OR :)

This will be an interesting game, especially with Powell coming off of a bye. If these teams had played last week, I would have taken OR comfortably, after the emotional week that the Panthers had leading up to the West pounding. They were a mad, focused team, and it showed. I wouldn't expect to see that in back to back weeks, so I think that bye week helped Powell refocus. Because of the tie-breakers involved, they have to win out. Of course it all means nothing if they fall to OR.

I think what happened in the first half of the OR-Clinton game helps the Wildcats, because it was a needed gut-check. If they had a half like that against a team like Powell, they may not have gotten the same end result. I don't expect to see the same Jekyll/Hyde routine from OR this week.

All of that said, Powell has a big hill to climb, and they still have a lot to prove. I think most people look at Powell, especially after what happened 2 weeks ago, and they see both a cheater and a pretender. I think the players and coaches have a massive chip on their collective shoulders, especially with Frances being "out." They don't have another back on the roster with his ability, so if you're OR, I would expect the kitchen sink from Matt Lowe, especially with that extra week to prepare. Nothing would surprise me in this game, but it will take a tremendous effort for Powell to come out on top.

And if they do somehow, they'll have to get themselves right quickly; they'd have to win at South Doyle the following week to keep their playoff hopes alive.

I repeat....I don't see how it's possible for Powell to make the playoffs. I keep hearing and reading that it's possible. Someone please provide the scenario in writing, that puts them in the playoffs. Until then, I just can't believe it. Nothing against Powell...more power to them if it's possible...I just can't see the scenario where that's possible.

    • Yep..could possibly have 3 teams ranked in top ten in the same four team district.
    • He had an opportunity to be the OC at TC without final say in the offensive gameplan. How does that work? Smh. Head Coaches are public figures regardless of the community size, and yes there are some out there, it’s irrelevant and not fair to them to name them on here. Also why is said “head coach” the head coach of the MS baseball program to begin with? Oh because no one wants it. As for the Lebanon question, I know what I’ve been told so just going off here say, some of the boosters were not happy with his roster decisions and wanted him out. Although he lead them to 20+ wins in multiple seasons
    • A head coach in the school system? No I dont think so. Head coaches are public figures in small communities. Not trying to slander, but this is an actual question. Do you know why he was forced to resign at Lebanon? This was his second chance.  He already left trousdale once and had an opportunity to come back a couple of years ago but spoiled that.
    • Are you perfect? Nope no one is, at the end of the day there are several teachers/coaches and even some in the Trousdale County school system that have DUI’s on their record. You’re correct on it being a bad mistake and it unfortunately could have ended horribly. While you consider the consequences minimal, I can assure you they are not. Ultimately I hope and have faith that he will learn from it and use it to better himself.
