Just saw where the TSSAA is voting on spring practice

They need to keep it in my opinion. It will impact the larger schools more than us small ones. At Greenback we have a hard time getting one in between basketball and baseball due to most of the athletes play multiple sports.  We are fortunate to have been good in them so we are in the playoffs and it runs into the next season usually. When I played we couldn't start basketball season until football was over because the whole basketball team played football. We would miss a few games each year, now we have enough that don't play football that the season can start and football players join in later. Our baseball program is rolling now and they are in the cages when January rolls around its really hard to fit spring practice in when you are focused on a state run in baseball.

We ended ours early last Spring, but I wouldn't want them to vote to take it away. Those ten practices can be very important to new coaches or young teams. Besides, some teams will just do it regardless.

Good point!  Very important for a new coach to get an ideal of what he's got.  They need to let the individual schools determine whether they need it or not.

Makes zero sense to have spring football. All it does is get your baseball players hurt. Coach held the starters out of spring football so they didnt get hurt for baseball.

Our baseball players never participated in spring practice until baseball season was over.

When the majority of your baseball players play football and start on both teams doesnt make sense to do spring football when your main football players wont be participating

    • HVA is a dump and will never be good at football. It's a baseball school. Look at the types of homes being built and families moving in. Not football families. People will move in and look at the school and choose to play for another program. This issue has been snow balling for a decade now
    • Also no shot at an indoor facility it took ya'll almost a decade just to turf blankenship
    • You will not be able to replace Dozier he was a stud and wasted for years. Heyward started strong and then fell of but he will be missed still Rembert could fly and was also underused. Not being replaced. Track has started to close the gap with football. It does not help that the current AD is just stealing money(collecting his check) while the assistant AD is a XC/Track guy who always hated football. Current AD is too worried about not hurting anyone's feelings to do anything at all. Heck he is gotta be 70 plus and looks like a fool wearing kid shoes
    • Will Trez remain 2A after the influx of another 2A school?
    • As I said somewhere earlier in the thread, the original plans had no outdoor athletic facilities being part of the campus.  The original plan was for HVA to use facilities at nearby schools.  Very late in the process they came up with a plan and found budget to have minimal facilities and crammed them in to space that never was intended for athletic facilities.
