I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! For all the grief the "whining publics" caught from the privates for  complaining about your advantages, the publics couldn't hold this discussion a light to see by. In three posts, y'all have covered philosophy, recruiting, student population, financial aid, tuition, number of classes, budgets, scholarships, facilities, and coaches pay! Somebody please mention having a multiplier and I just might laugh myself into a hernia.

Carry on...PLEASE!

We have a multiplier !!!!!!!! Hahahahaha. Just had to trader.

Don't blame you BigEdMo...all in good fun!!!

Just for the record, TCA was (is) straight up...never had a gripe with y'all at all. Hope that we can revisit our rivalry going forward, it just hasn't been the same without the old district 15 bunch.

I’d put Lipscomb, CCS, CPA, Knoxville Catholic in the largest of two classes with Brentwood Academy and the others, anyone else in a smaller group. Roughly 450 and under, Division II-A.

well well well.....if it ant Boogers lil bare back ridin deerskinned loin cloth tee pee dwellin Injun friend from the PUB sector of Dunlop stoppin by our private threads to chime in. ...is there a reason Tonto left out Haslams School of Knoxville from the list.....theyve had for yearsd and still have a round table member

...we had it at 450 at one time back when that sidekickin board memberin friend of Injuns was on his whinin wagoin bout playin us privates......then when all them TSSAA round table cerebral wizzards all piled up down in that Gulf Shores Penthouse it all went south for the non-representin Privates.....

.....if the Pink Pony Pub had just shut down that late nite Happy Hour and Flannel Shirt Contest for the winter.....we would still b at a 450 cutoff for all sports

...lets just throw everybody into one barrel and play zombieland football for 52 weeks

let Booger tell Injun sumthin right now.....that number for Haslams Webb School and its votin BOC member/AD/HC ant no 460.....it is 449....the same exact number as them Presbyterians row call were when that deal cuttin number of 450 would stay at 450 in all sports except for FB and Restlin which would go up to 530...

...or was the other sport Bowlin.......theres a even playin field thats a real deal maker

.....now heres the brain buzzer....there were only 2 schools left in the state with over 450 and less than 530 that had no tentions of goin to no D2-Big Boy division FB and restlin......or was it bowlin

....yep.....Lipscomb and The Sword of Joshua Full Gospel Independent Pentecostal Assembly......now that St Elmo Christian bunch didnt have a vote at that Gulf Shores meetin.....but thinkin that free Penthouse on the Redneck Riviera may have come into play that evenin

Football starts too early and should not begin until last weekend of August.   There are too many playoff games.   too many divisions.  too much manipulation by larger private schools. too much co-opin' and too much open zone mess.      Here's a suggestion:

Privates have 2 classes- Class AA has all schools that are not co-ed, all schools that currently charge more than $18,000 tuition per year,  and all schools with more than 400 high school enrollment. (side note-if you cannot win with one of these 3 resources at your disposal then a new division should not be created for you to get a chance to win)                     Class  A- all other private schools.

Publics have 4 classes-Class AAAA- all schools that use open zone enrollment and play kids that do not live in their zone & all schools over 1500 enrollment.    Class AAA-any public school in Shelby County, Knox County, Davidson County or Hamilton County and any public school that co-ops  with another school, Class AA-any rural school not in one of those counties with enrollment between 800 and 1500, Class A- any rural school not in those counties with enrollment below 800 that does not co-op, borrow home schoolers, or use open zone enrollment. .

Since we started later there is only 4 weeks of playoffs.   (yes basketball can start a week later) Only Region winners and runner ups make the playoffs and each division gets a state champion.   One week after the state championships there is a Super State champion crowned by having public AAAA play private AA.    If you do not make the playoffs you are to encouraged to go play a bowl game and help revive the bowl game structure of days of old. (raise money for charity and community pride)

This eliminates 86% percent of all the biases that have been claimed on this website and in counter drug stores in the past 19 years.

Know what ruins everything?  The Good Book told us from the beginning-- money.  Money to buy players, money to manipulate rules for advantage, money to build bigger and better and money for the TSSAA to make through more playoff games and more championships.  Wilson earlier lamented why it's ok for AAA to play semi-professional ball and AA can't--- my reason is simple; I hate to see a sport I love become inundated with power and money just so a few boosters can sit back like fat cats and watch their well laid plans unfold.  I hoped it would be contained in AAA and did not want to see it spread further.  I was naive.

  • 3 weeks later...

State Championships aren't what they used to be. No doubt. 9 classes(9 State Champions) smh. Passing out Championships like government cheese. At this rate we'll soon have a class with 4 teams, 1 in 4 chance of winning SC off the bat. 3A now has less than 4 legit teams in entire bracket. 4A is filled with 0-10, 1-9, 2-8, 3-7, 4-6, 5-5 teams, doesn't even resemble playoff ball til at least round 3. smh. Destroying mystique & prestige of Playoff Football & State Titles. Diminished BigTime
