I saw the boys play Catholic last night in the district basketball tournament. Now, that is how you compete! The tallest player on the WB roster is 6'3" and Catholic has two guys that are 6'9" and 6'11". WB outrebounded and outhustled them for most of the game. Our 5'9" point guard fearlessly attacked the paint and guys stepped in to take charges from Catholic's big guys.

Unfortunately, WB lost a tight one in the end, but it's about more than wins and losses. It is about giving your all and wanting to win.

I saw Catholic fans applauding WB's players when they walked off the court because WB had earned their respect.

I just wish our football team would compete like that and give that level of effort. If you give your all you will always have a chance.

Maybe the basketball coach needs to be on the gridiron, sounds like his players respect him and give their all for him.Great game i heard!

As I stated in a post Feb. 9th the whole Blount County School system seems to get a real black eye especially from the local newspaper. When people read these headlines regarding the cost to rebuild these schools that are in bad condition with no real solutions or the one last week about Miss Nasty and her classroom roach problem she has brought on has a lot more to do with families sending their kids to other schools around than athletics. Just a few weeks ago the headlines were about a horny bus driver and her overseer Don Stallion which should of had an "s" at the end of his name made him sound more like a porn star than a county safety employee. I don't make this stuff up and that is one of the reasons Greenback is worried about a massive over run of kids from William Blount.

We are good with it Barn.We had a very good former WB player sign with us and is walking our Halls as of this past week.

Mmmmm Hmmm (in my best Karl Childers voice)

Coach Shad needs to put down his purse and roll up his sleeves and start teaching fundamentals not being a gizmo coach always looking  for a quick fix.

If he hasn't taught football players the basics (softie

O-Line) How in the world is he going to teach his basketball players the basics of skill positions. He's not. Hopefully one of his Bball players can throw. The Govs are automatically a .500 team with a decent QB that can throw accurately over 30 yards and possibly run the ball instead of taking sack after sack.

Also would be novel if he made adjustments at half time instead of preparing to hoist the white flag and praying for a running clock in the second half. Watching his play calls is like watching a street fight where one of the combatants' strategy is to wear his opponent out by running his face into the other guys fist until he submits.

I'm almost positive Shad (TnFballFan) is a good guy outside of football but much like OrngnBlk says he garners zero respect from his players, fans, parents and peers. He's a legend in his own mind but a joke and a farce to all but the boot licker boosters and daddies he surrounds himself with and even They know the truth but are playing the game for playing time for their boys.

For you to think that I am Coach Shadowens, shows you aren't as close to the program as originally thought... I really wish you would stop talking about individual players. They are just high school kids and I don't understand why you would have such a vendetta against a teenager. Also, I have read in the past that the feedeR programs have struggled, so theY have recently combined two middle schools? I wonder what kind of state those programs are in (Middle Schools, Youth League, etc)?

Actually, WB middle school program has done quite well after the consolidation of Carpenters and Union Grove. They are coached by Rick Young who, BTW was the front runner for the high school job before $had threw his name in at the last minute after “resigning” (cough) at Blackman.

Many still feel (me included) that RY should have had the opportunity to show his worth.

When playing cards for money a gentleman must watch the other players for their weak point known as "The Tell". We all have it but the weakest are easiest to pick up on.

The Riverboat gambler Shadroach cast the bait by calling TnFootballFanatic Shad. After moving some chips and raising the ante a few times the weak player has shown his "tell". He gave it away with using the capital R and Y in his post. Thinking he was clever and the master of the game he has revealed his identity. This sir, is no CHILDS game. It is serious business.

The next time you come to the saloon stay away from the gaming tables and maybe instead go upstairs and acquire one of the sporting ladies.

No way a coach would be childish enough to post on here. We all know the AD reads the T.

I don't have anything against the coach there but have wondered out loud about some of the odd things that go on at WB. The program was on a collision course before he entered the picture with the previous two coaching debacles. The condition of the school has had me more alarmed than anything from what inside sources have told me. One even told me the only way out of the mess the county is in would be to do like Knox County and all the schools would have to run under the same leadership to avoid bankruptcy which has nearly happened before. That's just par for the course when you elect a retired fireman to run the counties business instead of an educated businessman.

I don't play cards, but i do know one thing about life... it isn't always what you say, but sometimes it's about what you don't. I have told you once before "I am a a strong supporter and close friend"... I don't spend much time in saloon's either; however, spent a few years in the business world that you so often reference. I am excited to find you out, just not sure where retired people hang about. I found what I wanted to know! Thanks for taking this business so serious.

WB offseason seems to be eventful again, but the boards still seem to be the same. Coach and player bashing, Greenback recruiting players, and Shadroach being his classy self.  Wb is at a time right now where they can use some help and support and you being so close to the program and being so knowledgeable  you could be the help the program needs.  Instead you make personal attacks on the coaches and players, I just don't get it..

    • Yea I agree I will say tho I was a big “ v “ fan if an  opening ever did happen I think it would’ve been good to see him have a shot coming from a power house like Oakland. I’m sure he’s learned a lot from Kevin.  I bet he would bring a really good offense scheme IMO But after all this I just dunno anymore.  Whatever happens with the rumors an such if it did come to and opening I think this messes it all up.  The board members dreams are slowly slipping away now. I haven’t lived there for awhile I just hear what I hear, but my question is would there be any good potential candidates?? That’s why I don’t understand why people want b s out so bad who else could do any better ?? IMO there’s nothing attractive about it? As I stated earlier I went to the last game last year and taking a leak in a porta Potty is pretty sad and still nothing being done they say ..
    • I have a sophomore that can do 177 (preferred) or 192. Sent you an email.
    • speaking of board members how can a man get arrested 12 days ago and still be head coaching a team in TC school system? looks like your right about the tc board members. I bet it would be different if they had a kid on the team
