In case you havent noticed, Greenback is usually the second matchup for the other teams in the jamboree. And you guys usually get the other team's backups. WB is no exception to that. Congratulations on being a state championship team that can sometimes beat a 2-8 or 3-7 6A team in the jamboree. WB has beaten Maryville twice in the jamboree in recent years. Does that mean the Govs are better than Maryville?

In case YOU havent noticed we have two players that played on that WB team last year and they beg to differ your answer!STRAP EM UP OR HUSH UP!

C'mon FightOn, You know thats a load of Shad. There is still PLENTY of time to arrange a full scrimmage game before the season starts but The WB coaching staff would NEVER consider it. Could be your HC is just to busy applying at other schools for a HC job or planning his bye week vacation. To bad AD Cupp doesn't demand his puppet "HC" arrange that game and put this matter to bed forever.

Hmmm...Interesting.  If WB played either Alcoa or Greenback at home and they could charge $10 per person, how many people would attend ?

How much money would it generate?

Rivalries are where the money is, not driving down the road a hundred miles because the other team is in your district. Telling someone we need to go back to three classifications is like telling them about a scratch on their car they didn't know about that's been there for a year. Now they can't keep their eyes off the scratch. Same goes for classifications, they can't keep their eyes off the 6 classes because we've been doing it so long they can't imagine it any other way. Greenback and WB would both make a lot of money off that game. Back when Everett existed they played Porter every year up until 1969 when one school had 1,300 kids and the other had 250 and no one thought a thing about it. Then classification came in and destroyed a great rivalry. The more classes that came along killed more and more rivalries. It's destroyed the high school games so bad at least half end in mercy rule games which means the concession stand takes a big hit in the pocket and hot dogs go for a dime going out the gate. There should be better research done to put schools in the proper classes if we're going to stay with this crap because enrollment is not the right solution in most cases and William Blount and Heritage are the poster child for that argument. Both schools together have put 82 seasons of football on the books (Heritage 42 WB 40) and their best records to this date would get a coach fired at Maryville or Alcoa.

More classifications couldn't have anything to do with more schools and population growth. Let's go back to leather helmets and sweaters because that's the way it used to be.

Again, I was told by someone very close to the situation that WB called Greenback and they didn't answer or call back. I trust my sources more than random people I dont know on message boards.

But what can I do? If people want to believe WB is scared to play Greenback, let them. I think it is pretty funny.

You don't see large crowds at the games all season long unless it's a rivalry. I watched a few games last year WB played away and you could of fit everyone in two buses on two of those away games. I'm not saying WB is afraid to play Greenback either but having to play all those district games leaves very few options left even if they wanted to play each other. Friday Night games anymore are so predictable that it plays a part on most people's decision to go watch the same ole same ole or go do something different that evening.  They've cut the classifications down to around 50 give or take a few teams so nine teams at the end of the year can be state champions and a hundred teams with losing records get into the playoffs. What a joke.

After you posted this earlier i went straight to horses mouth as to say and there was no phone call (at least to a GB number) and your source is bogus! They said "IF" WB called it was AFTER the schedules were already done.Kinda defeats the purpose.

    • Can’t believe no one posted on this and gave this team the recognition they deserve!  AAU team Tennessee went to Iowa and done what no other team had ever done and took down Iowa and the strength by holds in AAU nationals!!! Yes McCallie had a solid group of 8th graders and they showed up but we had an AAU team that wrestled their butt off and we didn’t just place in the top 5 … we won the whole dang thing! Yes the NHSCa’s were happening and that may have hurt but never once had TN ever won the national folkstyle duals national championship!!  It was a team effort and some amazing young kids!!!    We are not a fly over state any more… on a side note : we have any even better team for cadet National's team duals in Utah and have a chance to sweep both duals which would be unprecedented!!! However the funds aren’t there and USA isn’t in th position to help these kids get to utah as was AAU that got us to Iowa! Stay tuned for some oppertunities to help make a statement for Tn!!!
    • Right cause you know me, you may know my name, what I post on here, what I say on our shows, but you don’t know who I am. And if your class ring doesn’t say Trousdale County high school, quite frankly I don’t care what you say.
    • I agree but I will say I’m not hiding behind a screen name, I’m easy to find and not hard to miss lol
    • Dont get your reference, but okay. You calling someone a hypocrite is ironic given your track record.
    • Not gonna lie, it’s been hard watching my alma mater go through a tough stretch on the grid iron. But this thread is even worse. y’all sound like a bunch of jr high mean girls, popping off, while hiding behind screen names.
