If that was fast the Indians are gona be a real problem for ya definitely a solid quarterfinal game between the top seeds coming our way, cannot wait to hear about it Tomcats are the fastest! If you was you there you know the game changer was when y’all punted the ball to us, then 23 for y’all fielded the ball but he kept going forward for what was supposed to be a touchback. They spot it on our 1 yard line when clearly he ran into the end zone! It should have been a touchback. It happened again in the 4th quarter and again one of SF players fields the ball on our 1 but this time they say touchback smh. We fumbled the ball on the one that they put it on the 1 yard line. Y’all recovered it on our 2 yard line. Our defense held long as possible but SF finally scored from our 2 on that key fumble, that should have been an touchback! I talked to the Springfield stat guy after the game and that is what he had. South Side may or may not have gotten a fourth time out in the second half. Springfield had a holding penalty called on a screen pass, which is ridiculous and negated what looked like a 60 something yard gain to inside the SS 5 yard line. I’d say we got robbed on that one. Most of the SS penalties were offsides and procedure penalties, which are discipline penalties, with a couple of holds mixed in. The killer was the unsportsmanlike conduct on 20 when SS was close to FG range to try to take the lead, but that 15 yards was a killer. Oh, and the refs didn’t block those two kicks that cost SS 4 points I know 27 was out for the Hawks but in case you didn’t notice our Mr. Football semi finalist number 23 was very limited tonight and a non factor. He still was wide open on numerous occasions but our QB probably had his worst night ever throwing the ball. I get why you’re upset, and if we had lost I’d be mad too. Springfield gave you every opportunity to beat them, but you didn’t capitalize. Our defense saved our season tonight but our offense has done it many times this year. I’d be mad as a SS fan that the ball wasn’t thrown to 85 in the second half when he had a couple of big gains in the first half. It was like the OC forgot about him. It seemed like SS only ran 2-3 different plays over and over in the 2nd half. Props to SS on a great season. Be proud of what your young men accomplished. I know head coach thinks a lot of the SS head coach and has nothing but good things to say about him from what I’ve heard. He’s got a good thing going there for you guys. Give him all the support you can and maybe we can meet up again next year. One thing is for sure, our games together are always interesting! Yea it sucked to lose again to y’all when we clearly was the best team to me. You guys won & we lost but our kids give their all! Wish y’all the best of luck. Our games always are classics! See y’all next year! Edited November 10, 2018 by Tez2319

I heard the rule in HS is that a player on punt team touches the ball before going in the end zone that it becomes a dead ball whether the player grabs the ball and runs into end zone or not. On the touchback a Jacket player was standing in the end zone and then touched the ball.

Hawk CBs were getting burnt at times, Jacket QB over threw. Hats off to Hawks front 7/8. They came to play

The first time the player had the ball in his hands at 1 foot mark before crossing goal. Second time he had crossed the plain before he touched the ball, so automatic touchback. For the penalties, the killer for south side was the personal foul penalty that put them way back behind the chains. Yes, there was some holding on their part and the Jackets. Even if you take away say 5 or 6 of the holding calls on SS’s part, it still doesn’t matter. The game changer, besides two stellar defensive performances by both sides, was SS’s turnovers. The fumble at their own goal line and I believe 4 picks, which 1 was a pick 6 at the end of the game. Speaking of the pick 6, the Jacket player should have just dropped to the turf with less than 40 seconds remaining in the game with a 1 point lead and SS with no timeouts. I get it tho, open field and wanting a TD, but it almost bit us in the butt. Great defensive game by SS tho, hats off to them.

I couldn’t exactly see where the ball exactly landed but he did the same arm motion both times. Yea yalls kicker/QB definitely won you guys the game. I think it was 3 or 4 great punts inside the 1-5 yard line! Yea I agree it was a great game! I really hated for either team to lose that game smh! I would have been smart for him to fall down at the 2 or so but I get it I would have scored myself lol. Well good luck to y’all the rest of the way hats off to y’all! North Side will be tough as well! 1
