Fan413
From the TSSAA minutes: 14. Approved the proposed District Alignment for DII Class A Middle Region & Proposed Region Alignment for DII Class A Football. It will be effective for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years. Does anyone have any insight on the way the regions might be aligned?

Does anyone have any insight on the way the regions might be aligned? It appears that the Regions will remain the same as the previous two years and the West will be adding USJ (came down due to losing 21%), Trinity Christian, and Columbia Academy. The West will lose Zion Christian because they were granted permission to have a non-region football schedule. The East will be adding Grace Christian Franklin and Webb Bell Buckle. East: Friendship Christian, Mt. Juliet Christian, Middle Tennessee Christian, Grace Baptist Chattanooga, King's Academy, Ezell-Harding, DCA, Grace Christian Fanklin, and Webb School Bell Buckle. West: Davidson Academy, Fayette Academy, Nashville Christian, Clarksville Academy, Tipton-Rosemark Academy, Jackson Christian, USJ, Trinity Christian, and Columbia Academy. I believe the new Lakeway Academy may be placed in the East as well? I guess that all almost all games on your schedule will the be region games. Only possibly exception would be The Webb School in Bell Buckle. They play 8 man football in MTAC but played their first 11 man game this fall. Not sure of their 8 or 11 man status for next fall. Lakeway Academy is going to have to wait 2 years before they enter, but, it is my understanding they probably will.

ReitzFan
This alignment from the TSSAA for next season is an absolute JOKE. Teams in the west will have to play 8 region games. The travel will be extensive and costly. What makes things even worse is that most of the teams at this level don't travel well. I cover TCA games on the radio and I am most certain that the gates for most of our home games against our new region foes will be much smaller than in previous years. Unless the playoff bracket is changed, playoff travel could have a team on one end of the state playing a team on the other end of the state. That is simply not right. The TSSAA does not care about private schools and particularly the smaller schools.
silverpie
Here's the thing, though. The alignment you are showing is based on the earlier votes. But then an item after those indicated accepting another proposal. That suggests that something else is changing... Here's what I would have done. Three regions. The true Eastern teams (Grace Baptist, Silverdale, and King's) plus the two clearly east of Nashville (MJC and MTCS) form an East region. The middle would be seven (Columbia, Clarksville, Davidson, NCS, GC-Franklin, DCA, and Ezell-Harding), or move one of those (probably Ezell, maybe Donelson) to the East. The west would be the five in Jackson and Memphis. Use essentially the same playoff bracket as is current in AA. Bellsburg2
Middle TN schools did not feel it was fair to all play each other, since clearly they are the best. They had the votes and bullied everyone else into this absurd 2 region scenario. Agree with ReitzFan, all these long travel games will mean awful gate revenue for all parties involved. Eight region games gives you very little flexibility in scheduling (fall break for instance). USJ struggles to find out of conference games as is, and the limited flexibility makes that even more challenging. We will open with Southside next year and sounds like our other will probably be Crockett Co. Regular season road trips to Nashville and Clarksville. Even worse travel for the other teams on the far ends of the "region".
warhawk
One positive to having these 8-9 team regions is that it gives you plenty of football games that the coaches/athletic directors don't have to go hunt down. It is very difficult to find competitive games if you are a private school under 280 high school students. And if you think your old public school foes from the old days will want to schedule you again, you're dead wrong. You can find 2 or 3 games each cycle, but it would be a miracle to find 5. The state governing body is run by public school personnel. They are going to serve you the same food, you just gotta eat in a different room. Welcome to the kiddie table. chainsaw2
Private schools have to travel, get used to it. How many teams are in this classification 10? The top 3 or 4 teams will run roughshod over this class. Cupcake schedule compared to AA
