In my opinion, what ultimately separates Alcoa, Greeneviile, and Maryville is not just their execution but their quality of depth. The very top 6A schools can match Maryville's quality of depth. But very few 3A and 4A schools can match the roster numbers of Alcoa and Greeneville, and none can match their quality of depth.

that is because they are open zone schools. You can live in Memphis and go to any of those schools. Not like that for their competition

I can't figure out why, if a school charges a tuition for out of zone students, the TSSAA doesn't at least audit those schools to see if there is any trace of financial aid being given. I believe if any financial aid is given, said schools are to be Private.

ALL public high schools in TN can let in who they want.

Not true,We can only take in County kids (Greenback) for you to be eligible to play you have to move in our county. No exceptions.Just ask the lawyer in Kingston who got us investigated by the TSSAA after the McCord kid moved to GB.

In Greeneville or in Greene County you may go to any of the schools you want. If you go to the city you pay tuition. In order to do that you HAVE to live in Greene County

You do not have to live in Greene County to attend Greeneville. There is a higher tuition rate for out of county students.

I saw the squad numbers that Alcoa had on their sideline last year when Covington played them for the Gold Ball. I have no idea how they produce squads of that size and remain in the 3A classification. I hear stuff on Coach T about recruiting, etc., but I have no knowledge of what they are doing.

I know that Covington has no special pipeline to bring in athletes, but we are fielding one of the best 3A football teams in the state, both last year and this year. We have also fielded good to great teams in baseball, girls softball, and some of the track events. As far as I know, we are playing with "whoever gets off the bus".

I personally didn't fear my Covington Chargers facing Alcoa last year. I figure they pull their pants on one leg at a time just like we do, and they can only put 11 men on the field at one time.

If they win 17 or 20 championships in a row, more power to them. I would sure like to meet them again, though.

Have you ever heard of OZ and very low tuition for OOZ football players, sorry l mean students that want a great educational experience. What was l thinking of saying that. Oh no! Now the name calling and videos probably start. Sorry for pulling you into this charger fan. It is the curse of the T, l guess.

    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
    • hey goat! how’s monterey looking this year?!
    • several people actually. they said “snoball, do you know who railbird81 is on coacht?” I said, “never heard of her.” they said, “you ought to check it out they’re getting fired up on there like the old days.” well, you can imagine my disappointment when I came here expecting sharp, witty banter and all i found was more akin to toddlers slap fighting. and what looks like 1 guy/gal talking to themselves with multiple accounts.
