They have the athletes and those athletes are better than every school in the neighboring area excluding Mt. Juliet (who is a 6A school). You can name drop Hurd at Beech and Malone at Station Camp, but overall Gallatin has the better athletes as a team. If you dropped Crabtree, Osteen, Perry, etc. in as the head coach you would win and win immediately. Guess I'm not that crazy after all.... I have watched them play the other county schools as well for a while now, and have been saying Gallatin still has the best raw talent in the county majority years. Deliver them a good head coach and let the dice fall where they may.

I guess it would depend on head coach, but this would be a dynamic hire if it could get done. Would like to hear input.
Director
Gwave1 and Thegreatone36 Here are a few questions I have to start this discussion What does Gallatin Have to offer a coach coming in? Will the administration support a coach and his decisions about hiring? Will the administration support player discipline? How are monies distributed to the program? Will this hire be able to make the decision on how monies are spent and approiated? How will assistants be paid? Is their extra money to hire quality people outside of board funding? Same question goes for the head coach
Fballfan1978
I’m sure Gallatin will get right eventually.

Same question goes for the head coach I can answer a few of these. The head coach has the final say on his assistants. As long as there is a teaching position there that can be filled, the headvoach gets someone whom he feels can do the job. The administration is very big on discipline. Gallatin has always been big on discipline and there are plenty of examples. The football program gets x amount of funds and then generates their own money. They use it as they see fit. The QB Club is there if they need something extra. I do not know how assistants are paid or what you can do to compensate them. The TSSAA has a rigid criteria on what you can do and can’t do and these rules have to be followed. You don’t want to get into anything like Blackman did a few years ago. I know most of the coaches I have talked to loved the tradition rich school. They loved the practice facilities and weight room. The offices are in great shape and the locker room is too. The fieldhouse has been renovated just this year at the stadium. Also the QB Club is very active and your support structure is in place. You have a stadium dedicated to football only, no it is not on campus but that adds to the allure and nostalgia. How many places are playing football on the same field 100 years later? Gallatin still is! You have a hungry fan base and traditionally great team support. I am sure there are other things like the businesses that feed the kids and such. You also have a radio station dedicated to live coverage of your ball games.

jimb1972
How many you guys have or recently had kids on the team! Hard for parents to see the real ability of their child! Athletes not what once were, Beech had 3 backs better than yours this year! We will see if they get it right, I hope they do! He may have left, but who would stay with the way he was treated! Glad to see, it appears his assistants were loyal to him. Don't see that much these days! GO JAckets!

You have said multiple times "The athletes are not what they once were" I think you are the only one in here stuck in the 80's & 90's... They may not be the absolute best team in the state no matter the classification like they were before a few times, but the current athletes are still actually talented guys. If you think Beech had all 3 backs better than any of Gallatin's, you are just proving that bias you seem to spew in most of your posts downplaying Gallatin. Beech has much superior coaching and it shows. The current Gallatin players are as talented as any team in this county. I know a lot of Trousdale fans don't want Gallatin to be good, I get it, because then they don't feel near as important. Gallatin fans usually are content with Trousdale having success. I just don't get why you want to keep throwing subtle jabs towards Gallatin. So while on subject, TC was very smart in their timing of trying to play Gallatin, and GHS was dumb enough to take the bait. I can tell you, I was in the locker room when Lassiter made phonecalls to Trousdale to try and schedule. But it never happened! Ofcourse its awfully convenient that the first year for Coach Williams following his 3-7 campaign (first time that had happened in nearly 3 decades) Trousdale calls Gallatin to schedule a home & home ijs Edited November 27, 2018 by thegreatone36
